I think it's amusing that Facebook and Family Bullshit can both use the initials "FB". That's all I seem to be getting lately. Here's the latest exchange I've had with my family.
My initial status read:
"The Bible sure is full of some crazy shit. Do believers really read this shit? If so, do they really understand this shit? Am I tripping? Am I feeling myself?"
It wasn't a very random thought. I was reading the Bible at the… Continue

Over the past few months the History channel has totally gone ape-shit crazy. [To use the technical term.] I am not sure of the reason or the source of the change but in the past couple of years about the time the name changed from “The History Channel” to History. Shows such as MonsterQuest, MysteryQuest, Ancient Aliens, Decoded, Ice Road Trucker, IRT: Deadliest Roads, Swamp People and many more of the psychobabble of programming that they have on the channel now that have nothing to do… Continue

Immediately following on from my last blog
, about how I'd posted a video on Facebook about Homosexuality and Christianity, received one angry message from a Christian who promptly de-friended me (how shall I ever live with myself ? ? ? ) - someone began commenting on the video.
Turns out - as you'll see - he's something of a spiritual, new age kind with a penchant for CRAZY and lists, LOTS of lists… Continue

I just wanted to post this latest comment war from one of my old high school buddies.
Is anyone else dealing with this sort of thing.........ignorance is no longer bliss.....it's scary!
Started with a "status update" that says
"God is great.......beer is good........liberals are crazy"
and this follows:
I knew I liked you!!
All people are crazy, not just… Continue

I often judge a book by how much it makes me think and reflect. Frank Schaeffer's, Crazy for God: How I Grew Up as One of the Elect, Helped Found the Religious Right, and Lived to Take All (or Almost All) of It Back - certainly passed that test. The outdoors, mountains, adventures with firecrackers, hunting, hiking and, of course religion, all were a big part of my childhood and relationship with my father as it was for Frank. Some other similarities struck me as well. As the oldest, my mother… Continue

christianity drives me nuts. I find it to be reprehensible in most aspects but here are a few issues that top my list at the moment. Please feel free to add to the list, and to include islam and any other religion. I found it overwhelming to even get as far as I did. It's rather depressing how evil it all is. See the list at HDC along with links
Have a great day, my… Continue

Why do we do it?
I've become overly obsessive about my schoolwork, mostly to avoid having to deal with a whole host of other problems that have come up recently. It's nothing new, just stuff that I'm really really tired of having to not deal with or address.
I'm bugging the hell out of my friends and even people that I don't know all that well, because I'm feeling so unhappy that it's bleeding out of me everywhere. I try to stop, but when I do, it pops out with someone or… Continue

LiveScience posted a short article
the other day on potential schemes for dealing with extreme climate change, and the list of possibilities is a wonderful primer on how wild eyed people can be about this issue. The article reported on testimony from climatologist Ken Caldeira of the Carnegie Institution in Washington, D.C., following a report Dr. Caldiera gave to the British Parliament.
Climate change is a… Continue

I stated very early on that it wasn’t my sole intent to make this blog a constant source of fundamentalist ridicule. I hold to that (see my post on Tardigrades) but being as the bigfoot scandal is over, the raelians are quiet and scientologists haven’t tried to kill anyone in a while…I’m at a loss. Some fairly interesting stuff happened in the Olympics this week but I imagine you’re just as sick of hearing about Phelps (not fred) as I am. That aside, and in my own defense, some of this stuff is… Continue
