Here is one example of pagan myth and Babylonian star lore in the New Testament from my book. This excerpt describes the action in Mark
“As Jesus continued his trip in this quadrant of the zodiac, he drove a herd of demon possessed swine into the sea. Jesus and his apostles crossed the sea from Pisces and headed for Gadara (or Gerasa,) deep in the lower left quadrant of the sky chart. They found a man possessed with demons in a graveyard. Jesus casts his legion… Continue

PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF THIS!! I NEED FEEDBACK ON MY ATHEIST MEMOIRE IN PROGRESS!!
From time to time memories of my former life as a Protestant Christian come back. Some of them are pleasant, some unpleasant, others simply perplexing.
There is one that came to mind today that is still perplexing to this day.
Years ago, I had decided to confirm myself into the church, ironically, this was only a year before my dramatic… Continue

In light of Chris Hitchens' bout with oesophageal cancer a proclaimed Christian fundamentalist took it upon himself to write a rather touching blog post in which he claims to pray for Hitchens' recovery. First of all, I believe that it should have remained a private matter as it was obviously politically motivated, but that's beside the point. At one point in his post he stated: "I know the irony is not lost on [Hitchens] that the same faith he so
ruthlessly savaged is the same faith that… Continue

Free Speech and Stealth Evangelism
If you haven't seen this it is worth noting that a slick production called "Birth of Freedom" is being shown on some public television stations. This sectarian slaughter of both American and World History is appalling for its inaccuracies and not-so-veiled attempt to paint America once again as a Christianist nation. I would recommend… Continue

A couple of months ago I posted here that I had decided to come out to my family (specifically my parents) as an atheist in a very indirect way - by inviting them to Facebook. They never joined, which means it's on to plan B - the direct approach.
This urge to finally get this over with stemmed from my father lashing out at me this past week because of my political views on the health care reform bill, and berating me to some extent for being a "liberal". I think the time has come to… Continue

Hello everyone on Atheist Nexus! We are Cose2Cose Productions and we make a show called "Bible Answers". The point of the show is to make people aware of Bible flaws, contradictions and impossibilities. Last year we filmed 13 episodes, those episodes made up season one. We are now posting new episodes every Sunday starting with episode 14. We would love to here from people on… Continue

Something was brought to my attention a bit ago. Some Republican politician is trying to get a "Christian" prayer thing passed that says anything with a payer in the military has to be "Christian" or something along those lines...
Yet again another Goodie Two Shoes is trying to jack with the military because they think they can.
So, I have offered up my own prayer.....
I call it:The Military Secular Atheist… Continue

I hear Christians tell me all the time that they are the true Christians and that other people who claim to be Christians but don’t agree with them one hundred percent are not true Christians. It’s the old “No True Scotsman” argument. Well, I searched the Bible and found that there is one very clear way to tell who is a Christian. Real Christians can’t sin!
Before I get into that I also want to point out that all the Christians who go around telling people that everyone is a sinner are… Continue

Sure, Tiger Woods should turn christian so that he will not be so all alone in being unfaithful to his wife. Seems lately that the christians have cornered a pretty good market on this issue.

My temper was recently set off early on the morning of Friday, December 11th, as I stopped at a local Chick-fil-A for breakfast.
What follows is the email correspondence between me and Chick-fil-A, starting with my complaint as entered on the contact form of Chick-fil-A's web site.
Subject: Chick-fil-A Web Form Message
I understand that Chick-fil-a is a business founded by and largely operated by Christians. This… Continue

The ACCC (The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) has released its findings on Mercy Ministries and Mercy Ministries Executives have admitted that have engaged in false and misleading conduct. I can understand now why Pastor Bryan Huston could not back on the door fast enough, if he got wind of this early. Hillsong overcame revelations of Pastor Frank Houston’s sexual abuse of young men and boys, but financial misconduct… Continue

I'm interested in this guy at school who is a Christian. He and I are really just friends now and I would like to know if he might want to date. I haven't told him that I'm Atheist and I haven't told him that I liked him (I'm getting to it) but have any of you every heard of or been in this type of relationship? I feel that he himself would be fine with it but I wouldn't want to date him if it would cause friction and distance between him and his parents.
Any thoughts or ideas?

Inspired by this article
posted in the Atheist News group, and its opening excerpt:
IN 1910, A COHORT of ultra-conservative American Protestants drew up a list of non-negotiable beliefs they insisted any genuine Christian must subscribe to. They published these “fundamentals” in a series of widely distributed pamphlets over the next five years. Their… Continue
