So yet another victim from the non-mental health funding republicans all the way back to Regan. He knew there'd be this crap happening what with PCP, LSD, whatever pills, angel dust.. coke.. (all man made like god and all fail people) Continue
I wonder now about the validity…

I think it's amusing that Facebook and Family Bullshit can both use the initials "FB". That's all I seem to be getting lately. Here's the latest exchange I've had with my family.
My initial status read:
"The Bible sure is full of some crazy shit. Do believers really read this shit? If so, do they really understand this shit? Am I tripping? Am I feeling myself?"
It wasn't a very random thought. I was reading the Bible at the… Continue

What is this miraculous evidence of Jesus' love?
Jesus and his disciples were out walking around and became hungry, as you do. Jesus spied a fig tree and went up to it excited. But, when he found there was no fruit on the fig tree, Jesus got angry at it and put a curse on the fig tree causing it to wither away and then lectured to his disciples about the need for faith.

Working on a line-by-line parody of the New Testament is a unique experience for me as an atheist and it's an interesting way of getting up close and personal with the contradictions and, well, bullshit, of the Bible. I was planning on posting several insights but here's one that requires it's own category: shitty miracles. Thus, Shitty Miracles (the first): The coin in the fish's mouth.
What is this miraculous evidence of Jesus's love?

Religion easily has the best bullshit story of all time. Think about it.
Religion has convinced people that there’s an invisible man…living in the sky.
He watches everything you do every minute of every day.
And the invisible man has a list of ten specific things he doesn’t want you to do.
And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a special place, of burning and fire and smoke and torture and anguish for you to live forever, and suffer, and burn, and scream,… Continue

Oh we have a blog here. That's cool. Maybe I could use it to let out my aggravations.
Anyway I'm happy to find Nexus and a place for pretty much like-minded folks. I should have found it sooner but oh well. I have been atheist since high school and only on a few short occasions have I really got more involved with my lack of beliefs until recently.
I have been using Second Life off and on again and since I've been using it again I saw someone with a group called "Atheists United" in… Continue

not sure anyone is interested in this or not, but i stumbled across a multi-episode documentary from canada on the inquisition. it's kinda low budget, but still interesting.
the first episode is a little slow, but episode 2 and 3 are good.
it really gets me pissed off at points... torturing and killing people for nothing.
and occasionally there is a catholic priest who makes some comment like "well, we have to take these things in context of the society at that… Continue

This blog post appeared previously on my site.
(This was written on Saturday)
The emotions I am feeling right now are indescribable by mere words alone. Those emotions did not come lightly.
Today, I thought about the human race, our place in the Universe. Our history, our future. And I kept thinking, that something is wrong. Something is very, very wrong.
As long as our species has existed, we… Continue

I actually never read it, and I'm quite curious what bullshit I might read...
I wanted to find the bible I had back in primary school (I don't think it is a childrens version), but I couldn't find it, neither here, neither at my parents place...
So I looked for something online. I choose the roman katholic version because it's most common here, and I chose to read it in german for better understanding. (My german is way better than my english).
I do not even have the intention to… Continue

Here's the original.
"If you're descended from monkeys, does that make you think you can act like one?"
No, the truth is much more hopeful. You see, our Lord God saw fit to craft us from dirt. Which means we should act like... dirt... human... things... with ghosts...
Yeah, I'm not sure how anyone can go through their whole lives and not notice… Continue

This has reached a point of ludicrousness that is on par with the worst nutjobs I have ever encountered. However, it is not something I feel can be ignored nor… Continue

Or, (Occam's razor)^-1, the flipside.
The jury is out as to whether a brutal encounter with tragedy flips a person into religiosity or atheism - I don't think its a debate that will ever be settled, because I don't think there is an answer. It all depends on each individual's wiring. That thing that happened on 9/11 pushed me from indifferent agnosticism, to committed atheism with the realisation that there is nothing harmless about religion - that it is capable of… Continue

This is some seriously messed up nonsense.
I found this on Postsecret today. It reads:
"A while back my husband renounced his religion Then he lost his job Now we are about to lose our house
and possibly our marriage
I wonder when he will see the connection?"
I can think of at least two reasons why this is bullshit.
First off: He could very well have lost his job due to (non)religious persecution.… Continue

Been a couple of posts (again) yesterday about the vile propaganda and raw hatred that gets directed our way from theists that are immune to any kind of basic logic or argument a 5-year old can understand. It does nothing other than encourage renewed, freshly envigorated assaults. I summised the mentality as follows here
"Smear, ridicule, noise, distraction, slander and outright falsehoods.… Continue

OK, the year's almost done. If you think this is a dumb idea, just say so and I'll shut up. This can be a good thing or a bad thing - I've seen it all end in tears and shitfights elsewhere. But...
