Notheist—(ˈno,-thē-ˌizt)—A person that believes gods are not relevant. As opposed to an atheist that believes there are no gods, the notheist believes that whether god or gods exist or not is of no importance. To notheists, gods are irrelevant to living and unworthy to… Continue

I started to dismiss this query immediately, but quick reflection prompted me to answer the question. However, the question took me aback not that I hadn't considered it, but because it was one of the few times, I've run into someone who in effect asked me if I was human.
Something that is unclear in the…

We’ve all been there at some point. You log onto your favorite social media website like Facebook, and as you scroll through the many status updates in your news feed with highlights about your Aunt Martha’s cat, or your friend’s son that lost a tooth, you see this:
If you are irreligious like myself, all you see is this:…

Everywhere I scroll, I find many atheist and secular minded individuals with my same mindset. No God. No religion. Acceptance for all. On the television, it is always the same faces of Dawkins, Harris, Silverman, and occasionally Cupp. I run into the same issues on blog sites like Patheos, Freethought, Secular Coalition, and American Atheists. Same male faces and the dash of a female…

In the general public, there is an expectation when discussing the infighting amongst atheists, that there will never be a concrete movement away from God due to lack of cohesion. That because of atheists' insistence on individualism and no clear rank and file, atheism in itself, is a flawed logic doomed to… Continue

"So, you're an atheist. What does that mean other than you think you are a gift to the world?"
"How can you call yourself an atheist and support abortion?"
"Atheist men tend to be misogynists."
"Where do you get the right to determine what is right or not? You're an… Continue

Peter Boghossian looks at the word faith.
These faith-based conclusions reflect knowledge claims. The individual professes to know something about the external world. These commonly heard expressions use the word "faith".
1. "My faith is beneficial for me."

There is nothing more aggravating than being in the middle of a discussion about the parameters of what constitutes a God, and another atheist in the discussion says to you,”You are being intellectually dishonest by saying deities absolutely do not exist.… Continue

What the hell, I have nothing better to do today than speak my mind a bit. I really haven't written anything at all anywhere in a very long time. So here goes...
The biggest problem with humans is that they're so godlessdamned chicken shit. I mean really. When human kind learned to think the first thing he did was recognize danger and he ran like hell. And people are still running. And hiding. It drives me nuts. This is the real reason I just quit and don't really give two… Continue

Vossa Santidade, agradecemos a menção a nós, ateus! É isso mesmo. Estamos todos irmanados na luta… Continue

“God is the immemorial refuge of the incompetent, the helpless, the miserable. They find not only sanctuary in His arms, but also a kind of superiority, soothing to their macerated egos: He will set them above their betters.”

I really hope there's a good IronChariots article that addresses this, but not finding one I'm putting this here.
I'm not asking the question. Recently I've seen a number of good youtube atheists made awkward by arguments beginning along the lines of asking "Is it possible for a God to exist?". I believe this to be an excellent (from the apologists point of view) trick question. I saw several examples of an atheist responding with a very hesitant, guarded yes, and then I could not… Continue

With the rise of Evangelical Christianity in the United States a corresponding increase in finger pointing and blame claiming that the country is in moral decline accompanied it. The usual culprits for the fingered for the alleged deterioration are liberals, non-Christians and unbelievers, but a look at the numbers show the source may be a closer to home.
Without a doubt Christianity is the dominant religion in the United States comprising 75 percent of the population. Christian… Continue

Had a chat at lunch today. With my girlfriend who is my partner (we live together). She’s an atheist too….so I havent had to deal with any problems there. We talked about what people might think or say about us (especially here) and we also talked about people’s sexual preferences and how that is more accepted here than letting others know that you do not believe in God. Someone she knows is gay and is still somewhat “in the closet” and yet travels miles to be with someone. And it… Continue

As much as I like Dave Silverman, more and more he rubs me the wrong way, and it seems like most of the atheists who do the most rubbing me of the wrong way are affiliated with American Atheists. It seems like they're trying to undo all the work me and many others are trying to do by framing atheism as it's own religion. Whenever I see a Madalyn Murray O'Hair, Michael Newdow, or even Dave Silverman quote, most of the time it makes me facepalm, because most of the time they're reflecting some… Continue
