Let Me Drive the Hearse

Notheist—(ˈno,-thē-ˌizt)—A person that believes gods are not relevant. As opposed to an atheist that believes there are no gods, the notheist believes that whether god or gods exist or not is of no importance. To notheists, gods are irrelevant to living and unworthy to…

You Do the Math

With the rise of Evangelical Christianity in the United States a corresponding increase in finger pointing and blame claiming that the country is in moral decline accompanied it. The usual culprits for the fingered for the alleged deterioration are liberals, non-Christians and unbelievers, but a look at the numbers show the source may be a closer to home.

Without a doubt Christianity is the dominant religion in the United States comprising 75 percent of the population. Christian… Continue

Re: Some thoughts upon the popular idea of deriding Agnostics as "fence-sitters".

It really is beyond just annoying when folks choose to grace the front page of a|n with their blogging wisdom, and then proceed to lock all commentary when it deviates from what they wish to hear. It really is the ultimate expression of weeniedom. The original blog entry can be seen here and is worth a look to grasp the whole context. It starts off quite vigorously -…

everything in moderation…

There’s a bizarre symmetry when believers and unbelievers debate the existence and influence of the supernatural on our temporal world. Both sides offer an answer, one side using an ancient book and the other deferring to science. But as flawed as a book of uncertain origins and a tumultuous history may be as a guide, using the word of a PhD to confirm that science knows something for sure isn’t always the right way to go either. Atheism and theism are fundamentally different and when… Continue

Pete Stark, I Salute You

This post was imported from Livejournal on 2008.07.18

I don't think many people realize how amazingly important it was that Pete Stark admitted his godlessness. It's a lot like the episode of Ellen when she "came out" on the show. It's completely unprecedented, and it opens the door for other politicians to do the same. There are atheist… Continue
