Compared to What?

The President, he's got his war,

Folks don't know just what it's for,

Nobody gives us rhyme or reason,

Have one doubt, they call it treason,

We're chicken-feathers, all without one gut

Tryin' to make it real — compared to what?

When Les McCann and Eddie Harris…

The Probability of an All Out Nuclear War and Exchange...

Having worked for the pentagon and the Dept. of Defense early in life I still wonder and think about this.

Seems to me that as the population increases and resources decrease that the probability of an all out nuclear exchange goes up.

Thoughts of an Aug. 9 birthday child

“Hell no, we won’t go!”

60s anti-war slogan

It’s nice to have a birthday in the summer – guaranteed good weather (almost).  My early parties were well attended (everybody home from vacation) and outdoors.  But I know why seniors tend to disregard birthdays: as the number of enjoyed August 9ths gets more numerous, so does the number of anticipated August 9ths shrink.

As a speechwriter, I learned such obscure facts as my shared birthdate with Francis Scott…

Memorial Day 2013: Not for MY Freedom

"To lead an uninstructed people to war is to throw them away."

Confucius

“Youth is the first victim of war; the first fruit of peace.  It takes twenty years of peace or more to make a man; it takes only twenty seconds of war to destroy him.”

King Baudouin I of…

Happy 10th, Iraq War

“I have been meaning to write to you for some time, and the tenth anniversary of the beginning of the Iraq war provides as good an occasion as any to do so. Distracted by other, more recent eruptions of violence, the country has all but forgotten the war. But I won’t and I expect you can’t, although our reasons for remembering may differ.”

--Andrew Bacevich, letter to Paul Wolfowitz, Harper’s magazine, March 2012

Dumb question: Why have the…

Anne Graham Lotz Helping to Create a Boston Bible Party

Billy Graham’s daughter, Anne Graham Lotz, took time out from her swim in the shallow end of the Graham family gene pool this weekend to assure everyone that she would NEVER vote for an Atheist.

This isn’t particularly unusual. The Graham family has a long-held antipathy toward Atheists and other minorities. Son Franklin Graham entertains rather birther-like suspicions that maybe Barack Obama isn’t a Christian.

Don’t Do Unto Others As They May Decide to Do Unto You

Guns and Bibles

GUNS AND BIBLES - Ameican Christians like to howl about their persecution, but it's hard to feel their pain. Having control over almost all political posts, have unlimited money and influence, and can demonize and run rough-shod…

Chapter Eight; BELIEVE WHAT? part thirty-three

Growing fast and coming in third world wide is the section of non-adherents or unbelievers. This of course would be the most diverse group of all. I would also argue the only naturally occurring group that a person is able to reach without any outside influence. That is to say that being a unbeliever takes no more effort than just looking at how the world operates and rejecting what ever the dominate system of belief is.

As of this time, I am not aware of what could… Continue

God In Chaos; Chapter Seven; RELIGION SHINES ITS LIGHT part twenty-seven

Religion has truly surpassed the power of every invention that has followed it. As the

Bronze Age, Iron age, middle ages, the age of enlightenment and the

Modern ages have come and gone and gone, religion has been the enemy of

progress every step of the way. To the faithful, things like the Hubble

Space Telescope, nuclear weapons, and climate change are nothing

compared to the power of a faith that believes in a god. If anything man can… Continue

My Response And Thoughs On Kirk Camerons Video "Origin Into Schools"

1. - Why is Atheism such a bad thing? Atheists: never burned others at the stake, never started/engaged in a Crusade and just want to be left alone for the most part. However with the threat of FORCED CONVERSION, anyone would be pissed and come out swinging. Likewise, do you think we would just allow you to publicly deface our belief and ESPECIALLY with such non-sense as you, Kirk Cameron, have presented as "fact"? Why do Extremists think Atheism is such a threat to their… Continue

Holy war strikes in India: 35 Christians killed and 50,000 forced from their homes

Religious intolerance: More reasons to get rid of religion.

Source - Belfast Telegraph:

Holding her daughter close, Puspanjali Panda told how a baying Hindu mob dragged her husband – a Christian pastor – from his bed, beat him to death with stones and iron rods and then threw him into a river.

She found his corpse two days later, washed up on the bank. When she went to the police, they told her to go away. She found his corpse two days later,… Continue
