Chapter Ten; CONGRATULATIONS CHARLES DARWIN part forty

2009 was the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin birth and also the 150th anniversary of the publishing of On The Origins of Species In 1859. In The United Kingdom the Royal Mint has issued a commemorative two pound coin with the stuck pose of Darwin on the right facing across from a portrayal of chimpanzee. On the front of the coin is, of course, the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is issued in a limited edition and you may be able to order on from the website listed… Continue

God In Chaos; Chapter Nine; THE INTELEGENT DESIGN VIEW OF EVOLUTION part thirty-eight

When addressing some of the issues of the fundamentalist view of evolution

it is important to identify some key words that they use to try to

vilify reasonable scientists and educated people that understand the

concepts of evolution and natural selection. From the way the word

is used by the intelligent design side it seems that the word

“Darwinism” is meant to describe the “believers” in the

Theory of Evolution to make it seem more like a radical belief… Continue

"God In Chaos" Chapter Eight; HUMANIST POINT OF VIEW part thirty

But as I have said before, since non-adherents do not have a dogma we really have no need to meet together or organize. But I have a feeling

that will change as we fight through the courts to return our nation to

the secular nation that it was founded as. People seem to be tiring of

the rules and control of dogma and want to be good peaceful people

living with one another. Helping out where we can and staying out of the

way when we…

Catholic mortification is the fast-lane to heaven, yet 'cutting' yourself is a sign of emotional instability?

When a person 'cuts' himself or herself, we recognize the need to intercede and treat their mental instability.

When a catholic practices 'moritification,' they are deemed to be closer to Christ, therefore heaven.

Before we take a peak into the practice of, and justification for mortification, let us examine the upcoming release by the American Psychiatric Association regarding "Self Injury."

Homo Sapiens Evolving (An Anthropological Perspective) by Peter A. Primavera - Chair of the Department of Heretical Anthropology at Logidea University

As many of you read online and in the NYT, there was a rather heated debate at the Council for Secular Humanism conference in LA. Not to recap, but it boils down to how we will interact with believers as the movement of nonbelievers moves forward. PZ Meyers is at the heart of the faction that wants aggressive confrontation, not violence, but it appears anything short of that is fine with him. I would love to hear his response to this to fill in and inform the debate. There is another faction… Continue

Prof Dawkins had the right to do it..well ah..

Yes, RichardDawkins.net belonged to Richard Dawkins. So, in that sense he had the right to close the forum and replaces it with a narrower blog system instead. Of course that is not taking into account what the good Professor wished to use his web site for and the impact of his change upon his own purposes.

Richard spearheaded a movement to try and build up science and reason in the face of growing irrationality. That movement needed a number of things, activists, resources and a… Continue

Surviving the Dawk Bust

Many of you should know by now the events that resulted in the crushing of the RichardDawkins.net forum. If you dont you can find a poigniant description on Peter Harrison's blog. I'm still dizzy from the disruption to my life and my virtual community so I need to chat, but I don't want to chat about those events.

I believe the Dawkins admin folk are planning to replace the forum with… Continue

When Religion's Apologists Attack!

As religion and its sycophants continue to crumble under the weight of science and reason, its exponents have dialed up the polemics and the deceit.

Jacqueline Maley's editorial, "Atheism's true believers gather"[1], published in The Sydney Morning Herald is one of the most disingenuous, inaccurate portrayals of atheists—replete with some of the most outlandish faulty logic… Continue
