Richard Dawkins in recent writings has referred a number of times to a charming fellow named William Lane Craig, also known as "the Genocide Preacher". For those who have not heard of him he has a webpage with the preposterous title of "Reasonable Faith". In a recent Q & A page he explains why it was perfectly…Continue

Often when I reflect upon my day, I am amazed how much of my time is wasted going through hate mail. No, I'm not talking about those "my god loves you and enjoy the fires of Hell" letters I get from those wacky and kooky theists. I'm speaking of the emails I get from other atheists. Yeah, I actually get more from our team.
The last four emails I have received could be boiled down to this:
"There is no such thing as a new atheist!"
I just want to say, throughout this, I talk about mostly about the Christian religion since that is the one I researched the most.
So, lets cover the basics of religion. Now, I understand that people WAY back then would believe such things as a sun god, a moon god sky god etc. They didn't have modern science. So, they just made up certain stories. Many people from different cultures made up there own gods (well, Christians just picked certain things from other religions and…

I just learned, via facebook, that the SkeptICTs of Wichita State University are going to have a free event this May 21, 2011. It is being put on by the Air Capital Skeptics. I guess this is the day for "Rapture" as it is being held as a "Rapture Day" event. Apparently another religious adherent has taken it upon himself to figure out the day that Jesus is going to return to Earth. Or at least begin the Rapture.I think it should be May 22, so we wo0uldn't have to deal with their crap…Continue

Observation and thoughts derived from the book The God Delusion: Chapter 10, Dawkins wrote the statement that 96 percent of the population of the United States thinks that they will survive their own death. If one was to say that should I jump off this 12 story building unaided, after I hit the bottom of the pavement, I will survive that fall. Any reasonable person would have no other recourse but to find the nearest phone and call 911 for emergency services. Because my statement would…Continue

This afternoon I was contacted by Andrea from Lakewood Church. The Houston Megachurch that Olsteen leads. When I asked her about the cost of the ticket. She explained that it covered the cost of paying
for the Scottrade Center employees and various things such as that. I tried to express my view that if this is a message that is good for everyone to hear that provision should be made for making the event
free. Andrea explained that they used to have free attendance at these events…

While many reasonable adherents do , to one level or another, believe in evolution. Why should evolution have any bearing on religion one way or the other? Some of these levels of belief range from belief in
“micro-evolution” to accepting most of the concepts and ideas of
cosmological and biological evolution, in view of an absent watchmaker.
So, what scientific reason can evolution have with such a seemingly
strong opposing view against it? After all, in March 2009, a…
