Quotes from Thomas Jefferson

I cannot take credit for this compilation of quotes from Thomas Jefferson. I found it in the comments section of an article on Alternet.

===================================

Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity.

-Thomas Jefferson, Notes on Virginia, 1782

But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there…

Which Founding Father will the Texas Eduation Agency Axe Next?

Contrary to popular opinion I don’t hate Christians. That I am an atheist is true enough. But, just because I choose to live a life without gods does not mean that I hate those who choose to live according to the will of their imaginary friend. It’s not the Christians that I hate, but rather a large portion of their agendas that cause me to take umbrage. Think of my attitude as an atheist…

Heroes

No, this is not a reference to the TV show. Nor to people in tights with "special powers" and an obsession to do good.

Grandma told me that if my faith was deep enough, prayer would see me through any crisis. So I attended the local United Methodist church, went to the youth group meetings and attended Boy Scouts in the church's basement. I even learned to bake so I could contribute to the church's coffers (we were too… Continue

Reverse Pascal's Wager

I was trying to parse out the saying of Jesus from the Bible. I came across this link.

A large part of the article is a comparison between Jefferson’s and Hamilton’s vision of a future USA. That is a conversation which is interesting in it,’s self. As an aside, I mostly side w/Hamilton

The last paragraph has an interesting suggestion. [sic] …it is time we inverted Pascal's famous wager to… Continue
