GUNS AND BIBLES - Ameican Christians like to howl about their persecution, but it's hard to feel their pain. Having control over almost all political posts, have unlimited money and influence, and can demonize and run rough-shod…
In both of science and religions areas of my life, I have many more experiences that added to both my understanding of the natural world and understanding about Christianity and religion. In high school, I was fortunate to take almost every science class that was offered. I even became a science proctor, [that is a teacher's aide or assistant]. The classes I took included: General Science, Biology,(two years) Chemistry, Astronomy, Physics, and Zoology. The only two classes I didn't take that…
There are some news stories that if you didn’t laugh about your head would explode. Last week Kentucky Governor Steven L. Beshear announced plans to build a Noah’s Ark Theme Park. According to the New York Times, ”The state has promised generous tax incentives to a group of entrepreneurs who plan to construct a full-size replica of Noah’s ark, load it with…
This week, our old friend Bob Larson (whose under investigation-what conservative radio personality isn't) tries to pull off some amazingly New Age therapy on some gay men. It includes the assumption that they hate their fathers, and when that doesn't pan out, they hate their mothers. I suppose if this guy had hated his father, he would have pulled out some old men out of the audience to help with his… Continue
First, ask if they believe if the Old Testament still applies to a Christian Today. This will guide the rest of the discussion. As stated earlier, many fundamentalist state that they think the Bible is free of errors and contradictions. For my purpose and definition I would call “free of errors” as meaning that internally or externally is there anything inconsistent with the or contradictory in the text of the Bible or reflected in reality.
The good thing about this… Continue

Hell must be frozen solid today. I find my self agreeing with the Vatican that the Dove Outreach Center of Florida’s plan to burn the Koran is “outrageous and a grave gesture.” Secretary of State Hilary Clinton also responded by saying it would be a “disgraceful and disrespectful act.” No disagreements there either. But, then fanatics and extremists don’t care about being respectful.
The irony is that the Dove Outreach Center is using the Christian symbol of peace – the dove – and… Continue
Not surprisingly, the vast majority of those who question Obama’s religious affiliation are those who oppose the president’s political agenda. What is surprising is that his supporters are increasingly questioning his religious affiliation. Read more:…Continue

As most people who follow the news likely know, California's Proposition 8 (the ban against same-sex marriage in that state) was just overturned last week in federal court. There will of course be appeals, but this is a major step towards the legalization of same-sex marriage not only in California, but if it survives appeal, possibly at the national level.
I am an American. On top of that I am also a Texan. I was born in Texas and can trace my family coming to Texas in the 1850’s. Most of my family came from the United Kingdom. The rest came from Europe. Some have been in the United States since the early 1700’s. Some fought in the American Revolution against England. For what I can tell, they all were “Christians” of some sort or another. I am an Atheist. I’ve been an Atheist since the age of six.… Continue
So I work at a hotel where we have a mix of US and International workers. Last night a girl from Bulgaria and a guy from the US who used to be in the Marines started talking about religion. The American guy said something about Jesus saving his life by sending him to the army, and the Bulgarian girl said "You actually believe in that crap?" He said, "What crap?" She said, "The Bible". He said, "Yes, it's the word of God" The Bulgarian girl walked away. I think she lost respect for the guy. It… Continue
Second part of the Estus Pirkle 2-parter. And, Alleee goes on a RANT!
Negativland * Christianity is Stupid
Christine Laume * Une Fille Libre
Everything is Terrible
Michel Legrande and the London Symphony Orchestra * Theme and Variation for Two Pianos and Orchestra
Estus Pirkle presents the REAL reason to believe: because God is some kind of horrible monster who created a system where people who go to the wrong Christian church end up burning and have constant diarrhea due to intestinal parasites--which is interesting because there are already people in the "wrong church" who are already dying of constant diarrhea. So maybe those hippies who said "hell is here on… Continue
“The ideological glue binding together this wide assortment of people is a mixture of four ingredients: a deep-seated mistrust of government officials; an obsessive hatred for federal authority; a belief in far-reaching conspiracy theories; and a feeling that Washington bureaucrats have utterly discarded the U.S.…
Some of you may remember that I received a Facebook message from a Christian friend of mine awhile back, wherein she took it upon herself to tell me how much God loves me and all that. I responded to her in kind, explaining as nicely as I could why I no longer believe. I never got a response from her after that.
Tonight, I received a message from a cousin. She was raised Catholic and although I don't think she really practices anymore, she…
