Catholics and some Protestant Christian groups still quote and stand by the writings of these two , who were once considered wise men, but forget that in worldly knowledge and rationality, they can be beaten now by the average intelligent ten year old, in both knowledge and wisdom.

eport: Police Confiscating Condoms from Sex Workers
A new report has found police in major U.S. cities are confiscating condoms from sex workers, putting them at risk of contracting HIV/AIDS. Human Rights Watch says police are harassing and threatening transgender…

When it comes to things Christian, religious bias runs through nearly every major poll conducted in the United States, whether it comes from Gallup, PEW or the Barna Research Group, the numbers are often misleading, confusing or just plain wrong!
Surveys regarding religious issues are not broken out by faith groups such as Catholics, Methodists or Mormons, instead it is done by subdivisions such as born-again, non-born-again, evangelical, fundamentalist and other… Continue

On July 1, 2011, Dalton McGuinty, the Premier of Ontario, announced that starting in Spetember, catholic schools would no longer be allowed to prohibit the formation of gay-straight alliances by students. In an address by a Member of Provincial Parliament, Glenn Murray (Toronto Center), read a statement from the Premier during Toronto’s Pride Week. The statement read, “Starting in September, it will be students, not principals or school boards, that will decide whether a school has an LGBT… Continue

Back on June 13, 2011, I wrote the blog post More catholic Whining, in which I described the situations happening in some States like New York and Illinois, involving certain catholic charities having issues with their states making it illegal to discriminate against straight couples in common law relationships and to discriminate against gay couples when providing fostering and adoption services. Now I thought this story was… Continue

This is going to be more of a review than my usual blogs that are all about me! Canadian writer Suzette Mayr just published a novel called "Monoceros." It explores the impact of a gay teen's suicide on the people in his life - people mostly peripheral to his life. It is extremely well written. In only the first 80 pages I both laughed out loud and cried - a bit problematic since I've mostly been reading it during downtime at work! The author knows whereof she speaks,… Continue

A wondrous May Day for all of you! As you MUST know, this is the start of Beltane to end on Halloween with Samhain (SAW-Win). Whatever that means. I have an inkling, but as they say, a little too much information is a dangerous thing. Secularly, it has to do with fertility/new spring planting and ends with the harvest. Ah, the harvest. So what better way to celebrate the beginning of planting season with… Continue

It's hard to introduce such a grave subject to a generally light-hearted podcast, but here I am willing to try. This is another BBC documentary, this time exposing the official coverup by the Vatican of sex-abuse by priests and others with trusted positions with the Church (big "C").

Religion has truly surpassed the power of every invention that has followed it. As the
Bronze Age, Iron age, middle ages, the age of enlightenment and the
Modern ages have come and gone and gone, religion has been the enemy of
progress every step of the way. To the faithful, things like the Hubble
Space Telescope, nuclear weapons, and climate change are nothing
compared to the power of a faith that believes in a god. If anything man can… Continue

Yesterday travelled down to London to hook-up with fellow hootoo-er Effers (AKA Alison) to join the Protest The Pope Campaign.
Her account can be read here.
rendezvoused at St Pancras as planned and navigated the tube to Hyde Park, we knew we were in the right area as we began following the devout with these little yellow "Pilgrim… Continue

It seems that every day there is another case of child abuse exposed within religious organizations. Religious leaders try to capitalize on the cases, as evidence of evil in the world and pass off the blame on the Devil. They even point to increasing secularism in Western society as the reason for so many cases. And, they are right. It is because… Continue

Pope to protected from legal challenge while on state visit to UK
Those Fucking Cowards.
What greater crime than raping children in their care, does that miserable cult have to commit in order to receive it's comeuppance as the stain on human dignity that it is?
I am not surprised but I am fucking angry.

Some of you may remember that I received a Facebook message from a Christian friend of mine awhile back, wherein she took it upon herself to tell me how much God loves me and all that. I responded to her in kind, explaining as nicely as I could why I no longer believe. I never got a response from her after that. Continue

First off, it would be rather iggnorant to think that in all the vast reaches the entire Universe that we Earth dwellers are alone and/or the highest form of life. My personal belifs are that there should be at least some other planet that is still sustaining life on it. If it happend here on Earth, why can't it happen elsewhere?

Why are there so many Catholic priests who molest little children, especially boys, all around the world?
I'll start a list:
1. Their religion forbids them to marry or engage in sexual activity. They are to be celibate for life, or risk losing their careers and livelihood and dignity. Is this not already a sick act? It is unnatural and inhuman to forbid someone from EVER engaging in any sexual activity for fear of burning forever in hell.… Continue

Crazy me. Though atheist I may be, I like to sing Catholic songs on the weekend. It drives my family crazy because they suck. But that's kinda why I like them so much! I remember back in the day when we were finally allowed to sing the Protestant hymn "Amazing Grace" we shouted a great "Hallelujah." Actually it was sort of a whispered, "It's about time."
Any former Catholics remember the song "We are the Light of the World" by Jean Greif ? (I have to give the person… Continue
