Veganism (A rational response requested from fellow Atheists and freethinkers)

I wanted to write this post for quite some time. To preface, I have been an atheist for about 4 years and a vegan (someone who abstains from using animal products, for food or otherwise) for about 10 months. My change to veganism was not sudden (25 years as an omnivore.) But I feel as though my rational mind helped me break from the cultural norm. I feel as if there is a lot of evidence for why we should all become vegans (I've linked a few below.)

For me, I have always let…

Is Religion Good for Societies ?

From my atheism blog http://tonyjordan37814.blogspot.com/

Nearly all believers in every religion make the claim that religion is good for societies, that belief in their particular God, whether it be Yahweh, Jesus, Allah, or the various gods of Hinduism, leads to unity, health, wealth, peace, and stability. But is this claim reflected by the facts of reality ? Consider the following:

Phil Zuckerman is a Professor of…

How I define atheism

This is something I have had so many discussions about ever since I became an active atheist, and it puzzles me how so many people don't understand what it means to be an atheist. There are so many wrong - or at least not meaningful - definitions of atheism that I feel it is important to properly define exactly what you mean when you call yourself an atheist. To me, anyone who is not a theist is by definition an atheist. There is a single claim: A god or gods exist. If you are convinced that…

I'm doing YouTube again!!

So, I have this old YouTube account, that I mostly use to dick about with, and I had a few old videos. Well, I decided to clean it out, and start doing videos again. It's using the webcam on my laptop so it may not be very good, but hey....it's a start right?

An insight on why I criticize Religion, and anything that's associated with it.

I don't agree to religion. It proves to be a great hindrance for anyone who would like to make strides in progressing forward.

If you think that you need to belief in a deity and a constructed set of beliefs passed down from history to pave you a path for self-control, then you're one of those people very frail of mind...something that you straight-away deny from the very start.

Religion can and will be criticized for any problems and wrongs that it contains. To consider it as…

Apostasy and Blasphemy is my right....and not a crime!

Being an Ex-Muslim and born of Pakistan, it sure brings with itself a barrage of problems, pressures, ridicule and a lot of threats, especially if you happen to be an atheist and are fighting for your right to be an apostate or stand and oppose religious beliefs.

If you happen to be born in a country that takes Islam as the forefront for law-making, rights and the way of life to be run in that country, then you're most likely stripped away with a great deal of freedom of choice,…

Dealing with a religion and culture that shuns free-thinkers and Atheists alike.

Coming from an Islamic country, where the majority comprises of Muslims, anything that a person questions or doubt about it is quickly shunned or shot down without leaving any room to justify your base of questioning.

Everytime you question the teachings and the contradictions associated with it, you're met with severe hostility, or ridiculed for your actions, and when you criticize it, you're faced with a lot of threats which leaves a person in a high state of depression as well…

Week 2

As with any new thing in one's life, there is a honeymoon period where everything is perfect and life is better than it has ever been.  Now consider that I came to Atheism on my own and with little or no persuasion.  It took me years of becoming displeased with Christian morality, or the lack there of, before I was willing to accept foreign ideas.  My family and identity was so entangled with faith that I feared I would be set outside the fold.  To date, I have had very mixed reactions.  I…
