"The gospel is deeply serious while Judge Walker's decision is a jumbled mess of sloppy thinking." (That's funny; I would have said the exact opposite.)

As most people who follow the news likely know, California's Proposition 8 (the ban against same-sex marriage in that state) was just overturned last week in federal court. There will of course be appeals, but this is a major step towards the legalization of same-sex marriage not only in California, but if it survives appeal, possibly at the national level.

Since Christianity is all about… Continue

Which Constitution has the last say? A States or the US?

n the last week, California has seen two violations of human rights. The first being the California Supreme Court upholding Prop 8, and the other in San Diego County where a families right to assemble for a bible study has been violated. (I know Im shocked I am defending them too.. but they have that right)

So here is my question... Which Constitution has the last say? A States Constitution? or the US Constitution?

Naturally I make my argument in my blog:… Continue

Today, I am ashamed to be a Californian. Tomorrow, I get even.

Today, I am ashamed to be a Californian.

Today, our courts did not have the bravery to ensure equality for all citizens.

Today, the court made me complacent in a crime to which we will be held accountable by the next generation.

Today, the California Supreme Court returned the institution of marriage back to its stone-aged meaning, turning straight women into heifers.

Today, the court tore apart all Californian’s First… Continue

When Democracy isn’t Democratic

Imagine you have an apple pie and that there are six people that want a piece. It seems obvious that if you’re a fair person, you would go ahead and divide the pie in six equal pieces. This is how small groups of individuals make compromises that allow each person to have an equal opportunity, in… Continue

Shame on the Mormons

The first few decades in the history of the mormon church are truly remarkable. It is an example of religious bigotry at it's finest. The mormons were run from state to state, being driven out eventually by the other 'god fearing' people of those states. New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Missouri and Illinois...in each state, mobs of religious people gathered to drive the mormons out. The efforts became increasingly worse, until in Missouri the governor of the state issued the 'Extermination… Continue

Today we vote...our founders' middle finger to religion.

As we all go stand in lines before work, grumbling but happy, sipping our coffee as we anticipate watching the returns tonight, I cannot help but think just how revolutionary this notion of government for the people, of the people and by the people is. Specifically, I cannot think of a better way to thwart religion's...specifically christianity's...desire for control.

Our founders get credited with a lot that they were not. They were not all god fearing men. They did not found our… Continue

Um... Don't you guys have a rule about not lying?

Today I saw some lawn signs down at the local megachurch that said "Proposition 8 = Free Speech". As you should know if you're a Californian, Prop 8 seeks to make same-sex marriage illegal in California.

I'm absolutely enraged. How the fuck do these people say that they follow a religion whose 9th commandment is to not lie (or bear false witness against one's neighbor) and get away with proudly posting such blatant lies in public? It's absurd. It's obscene. Proposition 8 has… Continue
