This is just a rant. But it was brought into the front of my mind by something I saw recently. It was "Letters to Santa" at the post office, and they were reading letters of some of those in need. It was heart wrenching, and one story in particular stuck in my mind. It was a man, former military, unemployed, and struggling to feed his kids. He talked about how he was scrapping for any small job he could take to make a little money, and then he thanked God for keeping his children…Continue
Other adherents will offer this option to me, “If you only would trust your heart, then you would know that God is real.” To this I say, “I have followed what I felt was the Lord's leading in my life for many things as surely as you feel that you are now.” This also includes for family, friends, in jobs, relationships, where to go for trips and much more. There is not a single area that I didn't try to “bring under” the power of God. Even my marriage. But the facts of reality must be…Continue

Two months ago I met a girl. We get along really really well. We went on a date and talked, it seemed like, all night. When we got to our respective homes we called each other and kept talking. Throughout the week we talk to each other and meet up for drinks, but sex has never been a part of it. I think we both want to see this relationship start slow and build into something beautiful. I have never met a woman who isn't turned off by my confidence (I can get a little cocky, okay, a…Continue

I just have to share this on Atheist Nexus. Here is the first half of Ricky's entry. To read the whole text, just click Ricky Gervais on Atheism at my blog, Releasing Religion.
Why don’t you believe in God? I get that question all the time. I always try to give a sensitive, reasoned answer. This is usually awkward, time consuming and…Continue

When I recently visited a Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints in Ponca City, Oklahoma, this was shown not to be the case. To give a little background, before I proceed, would be helpful. While I was serving in the Army, one of my roommate’s was a Mormon from Idaho. I think our commanding Sargent thought it would be a “good” idea to put the more outspoken religious believers together to make sure they wouldn't mess with the men that wanted to go out, party and have girlfriends, while…Continue

This billboard in the Carolinas is just right, in my opinon. Nobody can say anyone's "forcing" anything on another, yet nobody can say free-thinkers don't care. It's just right. Hail truth, mythology be damned. And don't forget the upcoming Solstice Eclipse, another awesome wonder of our universe.
