Holy war strikes in India: 35 Christians killed and 50,000 forced from their homes

Religious intolerance: More reasons to get rid of religion.

Source - Belfast Telegraph:

Holding her daughter close, Puspanjali Panda told how a baying Hindu mob dragged her husband – a Christian pastor – from his bed, beat him to death with stones and iron rods and then threw him into a river.

She found his corpse two days later, washed up on the bank. When she went to the police, they told her to go away. She found his corpse two days later,… Continue

I Can't Write

I can't write.

Oh yes, I do love writing. I do have loads of people tell me that I write well. I listen to them sing high praise for my word-smithing and I take pride in nearly every post for the simple "talent" of making words flow from my fingers.

I'll link all my friends when I feel I've written something especially exemplary of my "talent" and I'll take a little bit more pride...

But then I go and read something by somebody truly masterful of language. I'll… Continue

the moon... ah, the moon...

emphasizes out closeness;

and stars, the distance.

A quite beautiful day....

I didn't get up as early as I intended, but it worked out all OK anyway.

I got out to Duanes' place about 09:45, and we went down to his friends' pond, and I caught 0 fish, and he caught about five little ones, bass and crappie.

He had to meet a neighbor about 12:30 so… Continue

I just can't be one....

I got up at 07:00... that alone is enough to make me tired, heh.

Went to the dentist... Everything is probably OK, but after my teeth got cleaned he was elbow-deep in a procedure, so they'll call me if he thinks it's something that needs filling... there was one question on the x-rays that they took.

Then… Continue

Is your reservation in eternity smoking or nonsmoking?

Cutesy little sayings on church signs irritate the hell out of me. I'm so very unbearably tempted to sneak around in the middle of the night changing them around to say something smart assed.

My mom and I were passing a church on the way back from work today and although I usually avoid making any comments about anything religion-related around my family I said something like, "I'm sorry but those church signs with smart little sayings on them irritate the crap outta me." Her response? "Me… Continue

He's Coming Soon...to a Theater Near Me!!

This modest little flyer was found in my (Jewish) podiatrist’s office, amidst the copies of Esquire, Rod and Gun, Modern Maturity and a pile of similarly unrelated publications. Just lying there, virtually unnoticed! How can this not be an international headline? A scheduled appearance by The Savior himself in one small Florida landfill community! Why was this earth-shattering event not heralded by trumpets and hosannas from on high? Why… Continue

To both liberals and conservatives; FUCK YOU! Be a human bing and come to the middle!

I was reading the commenrts on a Youtube video by Pat Condell. The video is about the islamification of the UK(specifically the adoption of sharia courts) and there where many stupid comments from stupid people. People calling for a genocide against… Continue

The unmentionable aspect of the financial crisis

When Theocracies collide.

To date, I have only seen this mentioned once in a blog (which I neglected to bookmark) and once on one Australia's SBS current affairs programs (its one of those taxpayer funded communist channels that no one watches, kind of like PBS).

This meltdown can be viewed as quite an emphatic victory for Al Qaeda. Those jolly jokers must be doing somersaults in their turbans. Their aims were never… Continue

By a phene call.

From my previous boss.

My friend and former co-worker Duane had been hit by a car this morning about 06:50.

This is the same crosswalk where my… Continue

Altruism

I am a cynic in the sense that I think that people intrinsically have underlying selfish motives whether they be conscious or unconscious. I have doubts in pure altruism, meaning that I think that most if not all acts have a selfish motive. While some acts may have been acted on in the interest of another, I doubt that those acts do not also have a selfish motive. To me, this can even be the "good" feeling you get from helping another. People will argue that when they perform such an act (which… Continue

Gov. Avon Lady & the Witch Doctor

Watch this clip from Bill Maher's Real Time:

And finally, new rule: You can’t be President if you practice a violent, Middle Eastern religion and worship a genocidal desert god. Which is why Sarah Palin can’t be President. Now all the churches that Sarah Palin has attended, and she’s been to almost as many churches as she has colleges, have one thing in common: a belief that the Bible is literally true. She’s not “Country First”, she’s “Bible First”. And not just the New…

Well, it was not a perfect day... I didn't get to sleep until 08:00 this morning.

I had told Lana that we would do something fun today, and totally flaked out, and she probably hates me now, dammit.

I'm hoping that when I start going to the Y on a regular basis, this will pass.

So I got up about noonish,… Continue

Been a Long Time Gone...

I have been a very bad girl. I'm sorry I've been absent so long. Something I regret everyday is my unwillingness to express myself. I'm not exactly a hermit, but I've been called such, and would tend to agree. One thing I love and despise about my search for knowledge and understanding is the way in which it applies to me. My love of knowledge extends to my self-awareness, and sometimes that isn't so shiny. Everyone has their issues, and while mine overwhelm me at times, I can say that I am… Continue

Yeah, I didn't win the lottery. I would have, but I forgot to buy the ticket, dammit.

It was yet another beautiful Kansas day, and I enjoyed a lot of it outside.
