There was a meeting of the Chicago Latino Atheists a couple of weeks ago.
As usual, there were a few new people. Martha was not able to make it. Jose was there. Jaime was there. Unfortunately, Jaime’s wife was not there. We needed La Acha there, because Francisco was there. We started with introductions, and it felt like…Continue

“Impiety, n. Your irreverence toward my deity.”
“Irreverence is the champion of liberty and its only sure defense.”
Fuck _____ (fill in the name of any deity, past or present).
There, that ought to do it. I’m an equal…Continue
Recently, a CNN article talked about the danger of being spiritual but not religious.
Does the danger exist because some of us are still entertaining world views not based in reality but in hopes and (pipe) dreams.
Is spirituality just a…Continue
All from a codfish story form the northern sea.. something about bad scientific method with cod count at 100 in report rather than 1,000,000
16 These six things doth Yahweh hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
I think most Christians are familiar with the above Bible verses. I have commenced a study of them myself because…Continue
ShockNet Radio's American Heathen, usually heard at 8 ET/5 PT Saturdays, will NOT air tonight; co-host RJ Evans and show publicist/producer Amber Harris were in Los Angeles last night for the premiere of the documentary "Caesar's Messiah".
American Heathen will return next week at its regular time. Here's some information on the program, with my invitation to tune in next week: …Continue

My sister had a religion report she had to do for school the other day. She and her partner chose to do their report on spiritualism. She said others in her class did Church of Christ, Judaism, Islam, the usual stuff. So, when it came time to present their report, she said that the people in her class asked, "Well, how do you know?" and said that, actually, "it's just a trick of your mind."
Is that so? So why is it that people can apply that logic to other people's religions (wrong…

Stop by and check it out. If you like it, leave a comment. Heck, if you don't like it, leave a comment.

One of the things to do was to get rid of debt. Six years ago we lived in a starter flat that was almost paid off - and a hallucinating mad neighbour terrorized us into moving and buying this wonderful apartment. I'm happy here, but I realize better than before that we've got a rather big debt that cannot be paid off in a few years. O well, it cannot be helped.
Shopping is more expensive now, as I'm trying to build up a food stock. But it's also a training; we expect necessary things…Continue

For weeks, the NFL was involved in a controversy as contentious as the Protestant Reformation: a salary dispute with and concomitant lockout of referees...and their replacement by lower-level officials who have already made countless blunders, failed to understand football's elaborate rules, and even counted an interception as a touchdown by the player who never caught the ball.
Their ineptitude has enraged the fans. In Baltimore, they united into a "fuck you" chant that the…Continue
Hi all---my new post is up. You can read it here: A Funeral Story I know that my views towards death are probably not normal, but am curious to know how you all deal with the whole idea.

"Typical. Those who enjoy freedom of speech are suddenly willing to give it up. If you can be arrested for this, a fictional movie, what next? Are you prepared to be arrested for a movie against Christians? Oh, did you forget The Last Temptation of…

God is the immemorial refuge of the incompetent, the helpless, the miserable. They find not only sanctuary in His arms, but also a kind of superiority, soothing to their macerated egos: he will set them above their betters.”
“If this is your God, he is not very impressive. He has many psychological problems; he’s so insecure. He demands worship every seven days. He goes out and creates faulty humans and then blames them for his own mistakes.…Continue

I'm so worried my life is coming apart. In April, 2012 I admitted to be an atheist to myself. I have come to accept the fact that life without religion is the best possible option.
I have a very religious fiance who will be migrating to the state to join me. She's too religious to even consider a conversation about her beliefs. I understand her, I used to be a zealot too. I love her, but I don't think our relationship will be any better because of her religious…Continue
Magic and magic, what do they have in common? Perhaps I should clarify. What do prolific supernatural beliefs have in common with conjuring tricks?
In between study, I work as a close-up magician, performing at weddings, coorporate dinners, birthday parties and other such events. My passion for creating illusion has led me to perform for thousands of people, and to spend countless hours in front of the mirror, fiddling with cards, and studying the techniques and psychology of magic.…
