Being human

We all differ in our ability to participate in the lives of others but we all have the opportunity, the choice, to participate in the lives of others more fully than we do now.

And yet we don’t do it out of fear, out of ambivalence to the suffering of others and because we tell ourselves that we are too busy and our own lives too messed to help others. Yet, all that it takes is to reach out without fear and to care, a simple embrace, to share food, and to…

Molding the minds of our nation's youth... or... Woot! I got a job!

Okay, so it's not teaching Science or History or anything where I can really counteract any of the bizarre brainwashing of society by religious institutions.

But this is now officially the blog of a bona-fide high school Theatre teacher!

Interviewed this morning. Got offered the job this afternoon. Fill out paperwork and get the keys to my theatre some time next week, and then the real work begins!

This is HUGE for me and my family both as my first "real" career-type… Continue

Canadians Rally Against G20 Crackdown

Rallies were held across Canada on Thursday to show solidarity with the over 1,000 people arrested in the crackdown on G20 protests in Toronto last week. The arrests…

The Last Airbender: Gotta love the anti-atheist message in that movie.

The Last Airbender does not just bend air to his will, he is in charge of keeping the world in balance – but he is not ready for the task. Atrocious writing is the pustule on a strikingly beautiful movie with decent acting and captivating action sequences.

While out hunting, Katara (Nicola Peltz) and her brother Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), of the water tribe, find a frozen sphere with a boy and his floating beast of burden inside. When he escapes the bubble, the brother and sister… Continue

Help me make an atheist movie.

Your part in the making of a Tacoma movie

Dear Friends and Family,

On February 20th of this year I started writing a screenplay. I assigned myself as director, and asked my friend Sarah Mangum to help out in the production of filming the screen play. We formed Aroma…

So much more to talk about ...

I was on the phone last night with an old friend I hadn't seen in fifteen years. He's an accomplished evolutionary biologist AND he owns a world-beat record label. While he is exposed to, via his business, belief systems from many diverse cultures, he has never believed in god; he was not raised that way. In fact, he admits that, while the notion has always been a curiosity, understanding the details of any given faith has not been much of a focus for him. That is not to say he is… Continue

Mondo Diablo Episode 260: Awkward Questions: Outnumbered

Clips this week come from the BBC comedy "Outnumbered," in which awkward questions are asked by children, and adults fail.

Hopefully, I will be off-planet in a couple of days. So if you don't see me next week--you'll be too busy escaping the horror that awaits. Otherwise, I'll be podcasting from the saucers after I've had my fill of alien ecstasy. Praise… Continue

guns and Christ

A recent discussion with a right-wing christian friend regarding the recent supreme court gun ruling got me to thinking about Christ and handguns. Would the mythical character of Christ approve of the rampant use of handguns, which are designed for one purpose, to kill people. Also, would the fictional character of Christ be a subscriber to right wing conservative politics, i.e. Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, etc. My friends politics and philosophy are indeed, unchristian.
