An insight on why I criticize Religion, and anything that's associated with it.

I don't agree to religion. It proves to be a great hindrance for anyone who would like to make strides in progressing forward.

If you think that you need to belief in a deity and a constructed set of beliefs passed down from history to pave you a path for self-control, then you're one of those people very frail of mind...something that you straight-away deny from the very start.

Religion can and will be criticized for any problems and wrongs that it contains. To consider it as…

Caring Christians Offer Me Help - No, Really.

I am going to the Veterans Administration Wednesday for surgery on my right hand to relieve Dupuytren's Contractures, the second time in four years.

This time there is a difference. Four years ago I lived in Oklahoma, where as an atheist my Christian neighbours…

Cultural Changes Caused By Legalized Marijuana

Having lived through the '60s, I'd say "deep and profound."

American culture will shake at the rafters.  The most obvious will be the impact on Big Pharma and the Liquor Lobby, but the ramifications will be much more subtle and far reaching.

First of all, as comedian Dennis Miller has mentioned, if Xanax and grass went head to head to see which is more beneficial, “Xanax would lose.”  Weed is cheaper, healthier, more effective and more fun to use.  Grass encourages…

Exorcism Survivors

I finished watching the extended director's cut of Blatty's The Exorcist.

Rather than continue searching, I have started a group called Exorcism Survivors.  I hope others who have suffered the rite of exorcism and/or deliverance at the hands of Christians...or, worse yet, have participated in the rite of exorcism as the exorcist...can come together and share experiences.  I don't know what the approval process for a group on Atheist Nexus entails.…

How I Would be a Better God than God

http://elefacets.blogspot.com/2013/04/one-thing-i-would-change-in-gods-plan.html

As the creator of all living things and the rules we play by, God must have at some point decided to make it so that the sin of one man can render all of his descendants worthy of eternal damnation regardless of their personal decisions

CRYING GOD?

Smirking, many religious people seem to think that when we atheists get into trouble we'll cry out to God.  Really?  Recently, a big pain and all the symptoms hit me big time; I was having a heart attack.  The pain was horrible!  I couldn't even talk to 911.  Did I cry out to the imaginary God?  Did I say 'Oh God'?  No.  I said, 'Oh shit!"  I think that answers the theists!!!  What do you think?

The Tequila Rant: Gluten Free meets Trainwreck Barbie

Seriously, I have a split personality when it comes to the "tequila". Just one smidgen, and the tragedy is on. One drink, just one, has forced me to move to new cities to protect my honor. Mechanical bull stripping, the accidental blowjobs, sleeping with the boss, not to mention the inevitable injuries from when I try to prove I can do anything. I always seem to leave the party laughing, but wake up with mysterious bruises and memories of cartwheels, climbing trees and swimming all…

Earth Day--43 years later

Have I miscounted? Has it actually been 43 years since the first Earth Day, April 22, 1970?

I was teaching earth science in Pomona California. I remember organizing a "clean up" day, kids picking up litter and trash in their neighborhoods. They solicited money from residents (probably mostly parents) which, if remember right, came to around $350. We sent it to an animal "shelter" (zoo) in Edmonton Canada. We had seen a National Geographic film on the Craig brother's efforts to save…

The Godfather makes you an offer you CAN'T refute - 8 ET/5 PT TONIGHT!

No doubt about it, we've had a difficult (at best) week. And as usual, all sorts of people tossing around all sorts of comments - pretty much none of which have any basis in reason and logic (but lots of basis in emotion and spin). My buddy Al Stefanelli - The Godfather of Reason - tries to make sense of it all when he brings you VOR: Insights at 8 ET/5 PT TONIGHT on ShockNet Radio. He'll approach everything that's happened this week and give you a half-hour of analysis and commentary…

The Acts of Simon Magus

I am writing a novel which may be of interest to this group. It's the memoirs of Simon Magus, the original Antichrist, a New Testament L. Ron Hubbard who invented his own faith, Gnosticism, in opposition to Christianity, and whose name is synonymous with ecclesiastical corruption. There is a description and some readings at http://simonmagus.com . All comments welcome!

When it Rains....

I got about 5 inches of rain this past 3 days. Farm fields have ponded. I've even had ducks in my yard. Much of the rain water fed into my basement (old farm house), so the sump pump ran and ran and ran.

Too wet to mow, garden, even play golf. On top of that, my clothes dryer belt snapped. Too cold and wet to hang clothes outside. But, it could be worse.

My farm kids, for example, can't work the ground. It's their livelyhood. Greenhouse plantings are germinating. And they're…

A week after Sean.

It has been a very busy week indeed, On Friday the 12th Sean Faircloth, Peter Harrison, Dave Armstrong spoke at a public seminar, which was very enlightening about the problem we have with religion being shoe horned into the public school day. Last week I blogged an article about the seminar on my…
