This Was My Life
Before feminism and skepticism in the 1970s paved the way for my eventual coming out as an atheist. May those days in the kitchen and the closet never…

National Atheist Party Condemns Anti-Theist Campaign
Billed as “The Largest gathering of the secular movement in world history,” the Reason Rally is set to take place on March 24, 2012 at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. While the rally is intended to provide secularists with the opportunity to meet with like-minded people while also dispelling the negative stereotypes that are associated with atheism and other secular beliefs, an underground campaign known as “Bibles for Bucks” has developed that threatens to derail one of the event’s…

Burn Them All
Now that Quran burning is killing people again, I think my thoughts on the original Quran Burner are worth revisiting. And for you Rick Santorum fans out there, I mentioned his advice to talk to plants today on my blog.

The Erosion of Women's Rights - Snorkeling in The Sea of Stupid
As a teenager in the 1970s, I witnessed enormous social change - the legalization of abortion, desegregation of schools, women being allowed to wear pants in public (seriously!), the ERA, all kinds of things. People had walked on the moon, and the sky was no longer the limit. Medical science vanquished smallpox, and there was hope that all the former scourges could be eliminated. The upheavals of the sixties produced real change, and I counted myself fortunate to have benefitted from it.…

Intelligent Design
Yes it has happened. There is proof that there is Intelligent Design. Don't worry the mythological faither god didn't do it. http://fold.it/ this is a site supported by University of Washington They have created a game to fold Amino Acids. The process is you get an Amino Acid then you help figure out how to fold it up as compact as possible. This is the beginning process of creating life. Oh the intelligence is human nothing supernatural.
There is…

Taking the Plunge into the Rally
Well I booked the flight, booked a room, and made a tee shirt online that says "A Canadian who supports the Reason Rally and Tolerance". I hope the shirt gets done and delivered in time as promised by the web site.
Spending the money to come alone from Toronto to a strange city and standing with a bunch of strangers may use up my idealistic quotient for the next few years.
I will not argue with or try to change the mind of any religious protesters if they show up. I…

The Republican War on Women ...and cows, pigs and chickens.
The Republican "War on Women" has yet another proponent. No joke, the WTF?'s from the GOP have been coming fast and furious of late, but this one takes the cake!

Ahhh A Quiet Place Without Faithers.
Well actually I suspect it is not too quiet. I think this will be a good place to let 30 years of Atheist thoughts come spewing out. Fortunately most of my friends have no faith or its no big deal. Which I am finding that is somewhat unusual but I have had 30 years to find them.
My father was a baptist preacher so some of know you will know where I am coming from. We did get to a point where we agreed to disagree after many long nasty fights. Funny he was a little…

My Favorite Lines From Mirror Reversal
Lines
His father was a venerable and respected police officer who never took a bribe except when he needed money.
“… mankind can be defined as ‘a peculiar ape infested by meme complexes!’”
‘Fifty dollars for fellatio and a hundred for coitus.’ I gotta write that down so I can use it on the muckety-mucks from Connecticut.”
“What’s a skinny ass like…

An Obvious Observation
Recently, a co-worker gave me a set of religious CDs on the topic of sin and morals. She is trying to convert me, and while that's never going to happen until she can prove there is a god, it gives me an excellent opportunity to check out the materials that Christians think are important in the discussion of religion. After listening to these CDs, I walked away with one truly over-powering observation:
Every shred of Christian morality are essentially Humanist concepts wrapped in…

#NudePhotoRevolutionary Calendar
In a press release today last week, Maryam Namazie formally announced the #nudephotorevolutionary calendar. As Aliaa Magda Elmahdy chose to stand up against female oppression, we too advocate for free-expression and women’s rights. This calendar features black and white nude photographs, and I’m Ms. September. For Maryam’s article announcing…

Nude Revolutionary
I am happy to report that one of the nude revolutionary photos was taken in my library - I'll let you figure out which one. Two others are friends of mine. I am proud of these women for their willingness to make a direct political stand against patriarchy and the oppression of women. Control of women's bodies is the cornerstone of patriarchal religion and societies. I am in awe of Maryam Namazie's courage in starting this idea.…
