Sex and Secularism

Amanda and I are working hard to get the survey results ready for release. Hope to have something out in May if not sooner. The data is almost overwhelming and the information coming out of it is very interesting. It tells us a lot, especially how different people are when they leave religion.

I'll be talking a couple of times in May on the results.

I am the son of a former Independent Baptist preacher and a traditional Christian house wife. 4: Yes, there is more

By the time I moved to College Station in ’02 I had firmed up my ideas quite a bit. It was there that I started to consider myself agnostic. I looked at as many different religions as I could to see if I could distill them to their basics. What I came up with surprised me. I found that at their core they really weren’t that dissimilar. Ayn Rand says that religion has a monopoly on ethics. I think religion has a monopoly also on morals. Yet, I do think, that as an atheist, I have higher morals than say Jesus.

Doctor Who and Atheism

For those of you heathen sci-fi geeks out there, I've got an old gem for you here. From all the way back during the Tom Baker years of Doctor Who, here is "The Face of Evil". This serial is far from bashful in its criticism of religion. If you've got some spare time and a flair for camp, this is a great one to check out. Ethics ate my brain

So, I started my Ethics class two weeks ago, and it's getting kinda hairy. There is only 22 of us, and there is already a line in the sand. On one side, there are the "so obviously atheist/agnostic it is not funny" and "The bible says it is the good book so I am going to agree with it.".
