This is something my husband "Stumbled" upon on-line. It is long but worth reading. The link is below for those that are interested in reading, "Why Atheism?"

How many sixteen year olds are out there that listen to oldies rock? Because at my school I seem to be the only one. Top bands are:
Guns N' Roses
Jimi Hendrix Experiance
Rage Against The Machine
And much more...
One day, I came to school wearing a shirt with a picture of Jimi Hendrix on it, and everyone who saw it said "Hey look, it's Bob Marley!"
My forehead was red from facepalming.

As I scramble to get last minute expenses taken care of before the start of this quarter I remember an important aspect to student life....weekly visits to the food bank. Maybe in a couple more years I'll be better at being a poor person. Were I to be symbolized by an animal I'm not sure which would be appropriate.

you must be careful wen you say some thing in here , first of all James Randi's account was deleted because of a copyright claim. not because of censures.

I love Dawkins video on mental viruses and have added it to my videos. If you have never seen it, take a look. It is still the best articulation of the concept that I have found.

I hate when non-clerics apply the word "heretic" to a scientist. Clerics at least have an excuse, albeit a catastrophically wrong and childish excuse, but when journalists, say, call scientific dissent heresy
it makes me cringe. Too many people already think of science as some kind of secretive, dogmatic society, and combating that incorrect view is already hard enough. Last Sunday's cover article
of the New York… Continue

For those of you who worship in the so called house of the lord....here's a message to dwell on!..I;m not going to ask the stupid questions like..CAn u see God..or Or can u touch him/it?..though these are all legitimate questions that you probably would give back a half ass answer to..its okay for now....However can you truly read from any book and not think that there are huge amounts of exagerations in its contents.....I mean give me a break...."the clouds parted and then there it was a… Continue

In the last few years I have become an increasingly vocal atheist.
Over these years I have been amazed by how many other atheists and agnostics I have met. Most of them don't talk to other people about it but once they find out that I am they open up and start saying things like "how can people believe things like that?".
I feel really good that I can be a sympathetic ear and a good source for rational thought and scientific knowledge.
The only thing I struggle with is the… Continue

The photo shows me in praise of The Flying Spaghetti Monster or hypnotizing myself in prayer, not sure which. The St. Louis Ethical Society and St. Louis Atheists hosted my presentation on Sunday, March 29. 67 Attended with a great discussion and questions afterward. The Ethical Society has a beautiful facility. It is refreshing to speak in a venue that is both beautiful and dedicated to something other than the supernatural. Kate Lovelady and… Continue

I love our government! The federal system - I pay lots of taxes, have an off-reservation business, and never really minded even though I knew they spent a lot on their little toys - but the shiny buttons and uniforms were nice. Continue
So the old ones like me, we still sit and smoke our pipes in the lodges... and we always approved as the young people sometimes went and got shiny uniforms, and we paid this tax with solemn dignity - as it was only money.

Has a major branch of history been determined by one man's bout with epilepsy? I think so!
Epilepsy Toronto has, on its web page, a list of famous people who have had epilepsy. The idea of the list is that epilepsy doesn't need to stand in the way of achievement. On that list - along with such luminaries as Fyodor Dostoevsky, Joan of Arc, Napoleon and Newton - was Muhammad. Well, you guessed it . . . the incendiary email this organization received from indignant Muslims, prompted… Continue

"Do(n't) you believe in God?"
"Of course not!"
Which is better? Answer 1 or answer 2.
Of course, there may be better, more effective, answers to this and I'd love to here them.

I recently joined the local Humanist group. I wasn't sure if I was a humanist - after all humans are trashing the planet. Turns out Humanists are a very diverse group so most would non-believers fit in. They also get some really good speakers at the meetings.
