Imagine if a ship represented earth's resources/GDP, and 1000 passengers represented the earths population.
By my calculations, 1 guy would represent all the millionaires and billionaires, and he'd have 2/3rds of the ship to run around in.

So, I woke my daughters this morning. They rose, a bit pissed off at not having their Sunday free, dressed, and we headed for the local Catholic church which is named for St. Kilian, the Irish patron saint of rheumatism who traveled to Würzburg, Germany where he was separated from his head when he decided that it was his business to condemn the local lord, Duke Gozbert for marrying the widow of his brother.

I wonder sometimes what I look like to others. I especially wonder what I look like to others after it is known that I am an atheist (nontheist); to me atheist and nontheist is the same thing.
Has my posture changed, do I look stronger or weaker? Of course this question can never be answered because everyone has their own opinion. As long as one walks with the idea of "be kind to yourself and be kind to others" you might have a goal for life. I guess self… Continue

Learn Biblical Hebrew online with the Holy Land’s best teacher…???
How come we're getting these sorts of ad's on an atheist network ?
Did I miss something... who takes care of the advertising on here?
I wonder if they know they are wasting their money, or if they are aware, and are trying to save us all!

The Twin Cities Creation Science Assocation recently held their annual Home School Science Fair
in Roseville, Minnesota. This is a great idea, and I would like to help out our budding young creation scientists with a few ideas for projects for next year's fair.Biblical Ant Farm
: The ant farm is always a winner, in any science fair. People just love to watch our little four-legged friends bustling about in their underground… Continue

I received a Valentines card from a new suitor who is deeply troubled about my lack of religion and otherwise complete failure to worship his God.
He told me he wasn't sure if I'd like it so I told him I would open the envelope right then.
"What's NOT to like about a Valentine's Day card and well wishes?" I asked myself as I cautiously opened the card and felt it to see if there was a cross inside.
I steeled myself as I read the outside of the… Continue

When the donation plate came around, I stood up, slammed my $300 speeding ticket into the plate, and belted out a "PRAISE JESUS!" I'm getting serious about my faith in Christ; either this fucker died for my sins or Glenn Beck lied to me.

Starting today I will petition Congress to ban sexual intercourse of any type unless for the express purpose of procreation. Oral, anal or anything but missionary style sex with the male dominant will be punishable by torture and maiming. Any enjoyment, pleasure or fun while procreating will be expressly forbidden as will rousing climaxes or especially pleasing release.
Henceforth use of prophylactics and all forms of birth control including early withdrawal or swallowing are… Continue

I have been gone from here for a while, not because I want to, or am too busy. That would be a lie. I have work to do as all of us do, and things that have nothing to do with atheism, and also just get distracted.
I participate far less than I used to in the old days of eGroups and such, because I want to have something fresh and useful to offer. a 'Me too' is nothing but bloat, so I don't, and in a thread that is nearing 2,000 posts, much of it repetitive, I am not going to jump on… Continue

This clip comes to us from Dave Grubin, who is in fact not an 80's tv action/adventure beefcake personality. He is a Vinyl Preacher, for all intents and purposes. He makes Christianity all mystical and New-Agey, while retaining that Ol' Time Religion. Who else can do that?
Another way to listen to Mondo Diablo is to go to… Continue

Come and join in the discussion at the Nonviolent / Compassionate Communication group!
After reading the book Nonviolent Communication by Marshall B Rosenberg, I’m very taken with his ideas about Nonviolent or Compassionate Communication. I can see that they can give us useful skills in dealing with our every day lives and improve the quality of our lives and the lives of those around us, when we have a go at applying his techniques.
He basically provides tools and… Continue

What's been really troubling me recently is this right/wrong/good/bad/evil/other stuff. After reading a couple of posts here today, which is just so refreshing - having been desperate for this sort of naturally based world view for such a long time now - being surrounded by Theists friends and family!!!
Anyhow, it was a relief today reading that there is no good/bad etc. Because really when we look at it, we just are here... and it's a simple as that. Then I go into my 'real' life… Continue

Hi, I’m Mark, I am 24 years old, I was born an Atheist like everyone else, but early on in childhood I was introduced to Christianity. I was never baptized or ‘saved’ as they so arrogantly state.
As far back as I can remember my Mother always went to church,…

I said I was out of the politics game. I told my friends I would not write another word about people that care so little for freedom. I even took the suggestion of my doctor to take the stress off and let America go to He'll in a hand basket. Well, I have one more left in me and then I put in the hands of the young because if I live to be a hundred, I am get g short on years. So, here it is!
