About Me
I'm an administative assistant by day and a student by night.

I work in the home health care industry where many of our patients are elderly and/or terminally ill. Though my position is non-clinical, when assisting others I strive to provide compassionate, quality care. I'm very interested in most issues relating to health care and patient rights.

My major is liberal arts, but i'm planning to transfer in the next couple of years into a full-time philosophy or anthropology program. I'm considering a double major; I want to stay in school forever.

Obviously I am an atheist, but I am also a freethinker, a skeptic and a secular humanist. My humanism is a pretty defining trait as it has a great impact on my behavior and colours my view of the world.

Interests, I have them. :)

I love science, particularly biology and medical science.

I like to read three or four books at once. My bedroom is half-dominated by my library, which has gotten ridiculous. I read primarily non-fiction but I also enjoy science fiction, horror and mainstream books. Usually I just wander around the bookstore or library and pick out whatever catches my eye.

Writing is also important. I'm working on several stories and have a few hundred original characters. It's a huge passion of mine, but not one that I talk about much online. I write for personal enjoyment and fulfillment and i'm not particularly concerned with sharing at the moment.

I am addicted to sound and constantly have music playing, either on the computer or in my earbuds. When it is silent I find myself concentrating on the sound of the world around me. Cars, airplanes, trees in the wind, etc.

My favorite books are 1984 and A Clockwork Orange. My favorite television show is Doctor Who. My favorite movie is The Wickerman (1972). My favorite colors are brown, purple, and pink. ♥ My favorite perfume is Princess by Vera Wang. ♬ My favorite bands/artists are Bad Religion, Patrick Wolf and Flogging Molly.

"They can’t do that," she said finally. "It’s the one thing they can’t do. They can make you say anything — anything — but they can’t make you believe it. They can’t get inside you."

"No," he said a little more hopefully, "no; that’s quite true. They can’t get inside you. If you can feel that staying human is worth while, even when it can’t have any result whatever, you’ve beaten them."

1984, George Orwell

hi Audrey, thanks a lot for adding me. Nice to meet another BR and Flogging Molly fan (alas I don't know Patrick Wolf, gonna do some research). I'm interested in science, esp. biology (evolution, recently evodevo) too. Molly is a cutie!!! Have a nice day, greetings from Germany!

Hey you could still pop into the meetings, they tend to run for a while so you can come in after you get out of class at 7.

Bon Secours Richmind / Hampton Roads Merger

Catholic health system to become one of VA's largest.

I work for Bon Secours and can say with an insider's perspective that this merger is only the beginning of the growth of Bon Secours across the region. Off the record, there have been attempts the merge with (smallish) secular organizations as well but those seem to have mostly fallen through for now.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. On one hand, they have… Continue
