Why I'm an Atheist / Bright / Humanist

Posted on July 28, 2008 at 1:25pm 0 Comments

The following is a note I wrote on facebook for my friends there (posted yesterday, 7/27/08), but I thought I'd cross-post it here... Maybe you all have some good feedback.

Why is Robby an Atheist / Bright / Humanist? And what does it all mean?

I know many of my friends and acquaintances may have noticed my "religious views" here on facebook and may or may not be surprised/shocked/horrified. If you haven't yet noticed, let me put it all out there: I don't believe in any sort… Continue

Hi Robert! I'm Kris - I host the Aussie/Kiwi group here on Nexus. I'm also the media and communications consultant for the forthcoming "Rise of Atheism" Global Atheist Convention to be held in Melbourne in March 2010. The Convention is being organized jointly by Atheist Alliance International and the Atheist Foundation of Australia.

I wonder if you could let your members know that tickets for the convention are now available online at the Convention website. We are expecting nearly 3,000 delegates, so this convention is going to be huge.

Confirmed speakers include: Richard Dawkins, AC Grayling, PZ Myers, Dan Barker, Peter Singer, Taslima Nasrin and many more.

Anything you can do to help us get the word out would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there-
What do you think about combining all of the GLBTQ groups into one? Any reason not to? Any Preference about who mediates? Which group should be "the" GLBTQ group?

I am trying to join the glbtq group, but the site won't let me.

Will you consider expanding the discussion forum on the GLBTQ homepage to show more than three discussions -- like ten or twenty?

Hi there,
I'm wondering if you have any thoughts on consolidating the A|N GLBTQ groups. Doesn't seem to be a lot of difference among them, some people are in at least 2 of the groups. Might be easier if we somehow combined them. Most likely that would involve leaving 2 groups in place but notices that all new postings should go to the remaining group. What do you think?

It's better, but from what I hear about their school systems, not much. I guess there are only a few places in this country that are liberal enough for me.
