What Would You Ask the Dead?

Will I get a raise? Is my boyfriend cheating on me? Should I take that job in Scranton? I am amused that those psychics who claim to talk to the dead on a regular basis, seem to restrict their inquiries to such mundane questions. It seems to me that “mediums,” (such as John Edward) who supposedly possess the extraordinary skills as being able to converse with people beyond the grave, are doing humanity a great disservice by not asking more significant questions. I’ve been thinking about this…See More

"I never have believed in the devil or hell. I always thought they were some big joke made up to scare little kids and foolish people. I didn't even believe in the Father of Darkness even when I was an Xian. I can see why people worship him…"

People, Who Believe the Devil Exists, Don’t Believe In God.

Recently during an email exchange with a friend of mine (in which I was trying to explain to him that the bible was not literally true) my friend explained to me that I was being controlled by the Devil. Although I was shocked (and yes, I’ll admit, a little bit flattered) I chose to I ignore the accusation. I was not going to be suckered into a long debate about the existence of Satan. Instead I decided to take the high road and focused on my friend’s assertion that evolution was wrong because…See More

“Today I Quit Being a Christian” By Jesus Christ

This just in: Today, on his Twitter page, Jesus Christ, philosopher and rumored “Son of God” announced “I quit being a Christian. I’m out. ”Twitter followers were stunned. “I refuse to be anti-gay. I refuse to be anti-feminist. I refuse to be anti-science, anti-movies, anti-Halloween, anti-Harry Potter, anti-Teletubbies, anti-science fiction conventions, anti-Indian food, anti-Large Hadron Collider, anti-big words, anti-yoga, anti-Karma Sutra (pages 17 thru 49), anti-news that isn’t Fox,…See More

IN HONOR OF CARL SAGAN

Posted on November 9, 2009 at 8:49pm 6 Comments

To celebrate Carl Sagan’s birthday I thought I would post a few of his quotes:

I maintain there is much more wonder in science than in pseudoscience. And in addition, to whatever measure this term has any meaning, science has the additional virtue, and it is not an inconsiderable one, of being true.

In every country, we should be teaching our children the scientific method and the reasons for a Bill of Rights. With it comes a certain decency, humility and community…
