To be fair, Lisa just asks questions. I've never heard her present her point of view as fact, and I like the way she helps me express myself. Aside from her, the other christians came because it was Meet the Pastor and such, right?

MY CONVERSION STORY
I was never much of a believer (in Jesus) when I did believe, so conversion was pretty easy for me. I explored Christianity on my own as a child, walking to church by myself and such, but I never really grokked it. I went to a Catholic school to keep from dropping out of high school, and I found them to be very open-minded, considering. It was a great experience. For a while in high school, when we were studying other religions, I thought I might be Buddhist. As far as spiritualism goes, I like to read the Tao, but it strikes me more as a philosophy than a religion... I ignore or reinterpret anything I consider "supernatural" in it. When I was 19 I was down to only believing in God for two reasons: I couldn't imagine the universe existing without God, and I genuinely felt it's presence. I read Darwin's Dangerous Idea, which explained how there could be a universe without a god, and one day I woke up and didn't believe any more. The presence I felt wasn't gone, but it now felt like a more conscious part of myself than any outside entity. It was awesome. Overall I've been much happier as an atheist.

Greetings, Katy! Hey I was just watching sci-fi and eating cheese. Must be a connection, ha-hah. I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus lately. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D You might feel more at home.
