About Me
I find it difficult to believe that at this point in time with all of our advancements in understanding the world around us that people can still believe in mysticism. It is like poison to a child's mind and I can say this having grown up with it for much of my youth. I remember a time as a child when I hoped that I would die before I stopped believing so that I would not go to hell. This tormented
me as a child because I new that I would eventually stop believing. It bothered me so much that I rejected rationality at all costs. I recall thinking that the world was coming to an end and soon. This made me care very little for my own future. I didn't push myself very hard in school. What was the point if god is coming to take me away? I had to push science away because it wasn't christian to have the thoughts that I was starting to have and that the devil was getting into my head. Now I have 5 kids and I don't know what to do. Should I tell them the truth as I see it or let them figure it out for themselves. Should I actively try to teach them about the dangers of religion or should I just answer their questions as they come? These are all things that I am left with as a try to raise my kids without making them feel like I am pushing a philosophy on them.

Maybe this isn't such a good welcome, considering the fire situation in Texas.
