One could say that about the Republican view of business, which when I was part of that party, was a laissez-faire approach to business. Few government regulation, free market society, trimming of the fat to be a more leaner business an therefore society. Those businesses that can’t will fall to the wayside. Those who are just sucking off the government nipple will be forced to find work. So in that respect, Darwinist yes.
Socially? I’ll have to get back to you on that. I will say this, since back in high school I’ve known that if you have three social levels rather than two, you have easier mobility up, and down. A poor person can become rich and live in the upper level. You can also have a rich person end up at the bottom. It’s a two way street.
Look at Mexico. You’ve got the “haves’” and the “have not’s”. You have “some” social mobility. Not much. Now is that a generalization? Yes. But in such a short note that’s the best I can give you right now.
