Reasons for not choosing AA?
I am coming up on 7 years sober this April. I remember when I first quit, the advice was immediately to start attending AA, and after a few months the response turned to shock that I never went to AA, and then expectation that it is just a matter of time before I start drinking again. Why does it necessarily follow that if you are trying to get sober then you must go to AA? - About Me
- I was raised very very Roman Catholic, mostly by my mom's decree, my dad just went along. I am disheartened by the hold that religious dogma seems to have on our society and wonder where the simple lesson of the golden rule has gone. The aspect of the religious debate that concerns me the most, is the indoctrination of children. I would like to see Sunday School replaced with secular lessons in the value of diversity, moral and ethical behavior, the importance of social justice, community service and civic responsibility.
