Hey Brian, I need to rack my brain a little more for GR proper, but not too far away in Kalamazoo is a great restaurant called Food Dance.  They have a little market in house, a bar, and sit-down dining.  Also great in Kzoo is Bell's…

Hey, I'm stuck in Grand Rapids a week or two of every month. Who wants to hang out? What's more, is there any place to get anything edible around here?

About Me
I'm a geeky mutant. I'm 6'2" with gi-normous hands and feet. I'm "imrational" from YouTube.

I currently work as an ER Nurse. I've also worked as a park ranger, an outdoor adventure guide, and a city bureaucrat.

I am an avid reader, love movies (especially cheesy zombie flicks), and the outdoors. I've been bicycling since I was 3 years old, literally before I can remember.

What my page is about...

I've tried to promote rational thought in my daily life. However, I think that doing so here is pretty much "preaching to the choir". I look at this site as a ways and means to meet fellow freethinkers and get to know each other.

I'm going to try and have my page reflect more me than just my beliefs. So my blog will likely have only a slight bit to do with atheism. Instead, I'm going to blog about me, my observations, opinions, etc.

One thing I used to do on a different blog was to answer any question given to me. If you ask me a question for my blog, no matter how strange or outrageous, I will answer it. Of course, I will not blindly give out personal information, but otherwise I will try and be blatantly honest.

Listening to the waves

Posted on August 24, 2008 at 7:38pm 3 Comments

It is a cacophony of noise.

The sound of the moon pulling at its tether
The sound of molecules churning and clashing
The hidden roar of hurricanes and typhoons

Yet it calms me and lulls me to sleep.

Bicycle camping

Posted on August 19, 2008 at 7:53pm 0 Comments

Well, this is the third day of my bicycle-camping trip. I'm using a F5 Enduro Hi-Racer recumbent with Jandd Mountaineering panniers. The bike is performing really well. I don't have the speedometer on the bike, but a speedtrap I passed by had me clocked at 22mph.

I've been using my old Thermarest camping mattress, but I'm also using a LuxuryLite Backpacker Cot. Wow. The cot is uber-comfy. Combined with the Thermarest, It is actually more comfortable than a lot of beds I have slept… Continue

Holy Shit! I just watched Bill Maher's Religulous!

Posted on August 2, 2008 at 5:53pm 11 Comments

I just got out of watching Bill Maher's new movie, Religulous at it's world premiere at the Traverse City Film Festival. It was one of the first films to sell out at the festival, selling out in just the first couple days of sales.

Security was very tight. Cellphones had to be turned completely off. It was repeatedly announced that anyone with an active cellphone would have it confiscated. If any images were found from the movie on the phone, then charges would be leveled against… Continue

Food allergies... wtf?!?

Posted on July 31, 2008 at 11:36am 8 Comments

I've had bad allergies as long as I can remember. For the last few years, they seemed to do okay with medications. Well, I had been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome about a dozen years ago. Last year, I started having heart palpitations, shortness of breath, and some other symptoms.

A stress test came out fine. I was reading up on something recently and found that palpitations can be caused by a food allergy. Apparently, most of my other whacky health symptoms I've had for the… Continue

Atheist Nexus a Sham?

Posted on July 10, 2008 at 4:07pm 2 Comments

What a roller coaster of a ride it's been!

Wow.

When I first heard about the Atheist Nexus a few days ago, I thought it a brilliant idea. The fact that over 1,000 people signed up in just a few days points out that this was something needed.

Then, this morning, a revelation is posted in the forum that there is a christian site sharing fax and telephone numbers... then the finding of a prayer being submitted by the administrator just a few months ago... shortly… Continue

Hey Brian . . .

We're a new group in the Petoskey area that meets once a month; next meeting is at 1pm at the Petoskey Public Library. I know it's a bit of a drive for you, but I thought I'd let you know in case you'd want to attend. Find out more about us at:

Hi Brian! I'm Kris - I host the Aussie/Kiwi group here on Nexus. I'm also the media and communications consultant for the forthcoming "Rise of Atheism" Global Atheist Convention to be held in Melbourne in March 2010. The Convention is being organized jointly by Atheist Alliance International and the Atheist Foundation of Australia.

I wonder if you could let your members know that tickets for the convention are now available online at the Convention website. We are expecting nearly 3,000 delegates, so this convention is going to be huge.

Confirmed speakers include: Richard Dawkins, AC Grayling, PZ Myers, Dan Barker, Peter Singer, Taslima Nasrin and many more.

Anything you can do to help us get the word out would be greatly appreciated.

Is there any reason in particular why your brian was fried so early yesterday Brain? (It's great you made the change to the afternoon shift already, cause it might give you spare time at nights to try to take over the world). Do you want to know something funny? Here people sometimes call me "Rosita", which is my name's diminutive, in english it translates to "Pinky" lol
