I thought I was supposed to believe and actually tried to believe when I was very young, but stopped trying before I stopped believing in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. I kept my non-belief to myself until my later teen years. My father has never said anything about his beliefs either way and my mother referred to herself as an atheist for the first time in just the last few years (I'm in my early 30's now). Were your parents atheists, religious or did they never say?
