Welcome CJ, I would not go so far as to say your definition of god is incorrect. Your definition sounds like the same one that Einstein used when referring to god, which is to say you don't believe in a personal god. Einstein is a little…

wow. your introduction was substantialy better than mine. Anyhow, it appears our realizations are very similar. It's always good to know there are rational people out there who are much better at explaining views than I am (if that sounded…

Hi everyone, great to be here.  My name is CJ and I discovered that I am an atheist and not agnostic.  All these years I thought god was like that natural balance deal, but aparently it's that big invinisible guy in the sky that controls everything.. huh, who knew?  Okay my views were not that vague, but it's great to know that there are way more people in this country that see things the same way I do.  Until I started to google atheism I never really noticed all of the right wing nut jobs out…See More

I prefer to read books that actualy make sense and are entertaining. Not mountains of old information that may or may not be true. When I have all of he popular religous texts I may begin studying them, or more likely I'll watch a good movie.

My local library has it, considering borrowing it to give it a good look through. Heard an interview by the author, he's not religious but thought it would be a good project/ challenge. He also mentioned that there are some massive…

Yes, I think you might need a passport. Not 100% sure though. I think there may be a cheaper/easier way to do it with a different document, but I'm not sure and don't know the details.

Hi Clarence, and welcome to this friendly meeting place where we recognise--like you as a freethinking atheist--that gods are phoney and religion is used to control people;
and how tragic and inexcusable it is that women and minorities have been oppressed these last two thousand years and more.

Hi Clarence.

Welcome. I'm from Virginia. Talk about being surrounded. On the way to the gym this morning I counted seven (yes 7) churches. And I had only driven 1/2 mile. Within two miles there were 13. So, look around this site. No theist here. I hope you tell us your story.
