Alas, I am mainly a bird person myself although I like anything in nature.  My cats live to catch lizards which I wrestle away to a safe place.  I never kill snakes in my garden.  If they lay in wait for my hummingbirds I cart them off to a distant place (even though I know they probably return.)  I have always relished the fact that birds are older than humans.
