Hi, Yvette. I'm writing to you as the moderator of Young Atheists. I'd noticed your group, ans saw you had over 300 members, so for months I'd routinely been recommending it to new members ages 14-17. Then I actually looked at the group, and was dismayed to see almost no activity. I'd thought it wasn't my business to "spy" on your conversations, so I didn't examine it closely for a long time. I'd thought young people would have a lot to talk about with one another. *sigh* After seeing months could go by with nothing shared, I've stopped providing a link to new youth. Just thought you should know. BTW, since you identify as a geek, have you checked out Geek and Nerd Haven? I'll take a look at Atheist Revolution, in your group list.

If you want to discuss ways to jump start your group, I'm open. Hang With Friends is doing pretty well.

Hi Yvette - I'm Kris - I host the Aussie/Kiwi group here on Nexus. I'm also the media and communications consultant for the forthcoming "Rise of Atheism" Global Atheist Convention to be held in Melbourne in March 2010. The Convention is being organized jointly by Atheist Alliance International and the Atheist Foundation of Australia.

I wonder if you could let your members know that tickets for the convention are now available online at the Convention website. We are expecting nearly 3,000 delegates, so this convention is going to be huge.

Confirmed speakers include: Richard Dawkins, AC Grayling, PZ Myers, Dan Barker, Peter Singer, Taslima Nasrin and many more.

Anything you can do to help us get the word out would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your efforts with young atheists. I'm surprised how many do not consider our moniker 'Atheists' as a pejorative. I've often pondered why we allow ourselves to be labeled with a religious term.
