My Groups

I started a Wonderism group to discuss the philosophy of wonderism, and related topics. All are welcome.

Also, if you're from Windsor, Ontario, join us at Windsor Atheists. We've started a regular social meet up group!

Sounds like you probably just need someone/somewhere to rant then, perhaps. Let out your anger/frustration in a blog or here on A/N or elsewhere, where it's safe to go ballistic. Or perhaps find an understanding friend or a freethought group nearby.…

Personally, I go with what I call unapologetic atheism. That basically means being as much yourself as you can be without crossing any ethical boundaries. As long as you don't do anything ethically wrong, you need not 'apologize' for your personal v…

Humanists believe we must live this life on the basis that it's the only life we'll have. The Windsor Humanist Society has evolved over these past 10 years from a small group living throughout Essex County who share Humanist principles.

It really bugs me when sci-fi shows/movies/books have galactic empires and the like. Really? We advanced to be able to colonize the galaxy and couldn't come up with anything better than an empire? Ugh. I sure hope we figure something out before we…

I support Everybody Draw Mohammed Day!

Blasphemy is a victimless crime. In fact, blasphemy is a worthwhile pursuit in support of human rights and freedoms.

The religious taboo against depicting the religious person Mohammed does not, and cannot, have any rational or ethical justification. The only way to 'justify' such a taboo is through ostracism, intimidation, coercion, force, and ultimately violence. None of these 'justifications' are valid. They are all founded on the principle of terror.

I reject terror, in fav… Continue

Starting a local meet up? Why not?

I've had the urge to meet up with local freethinkers and atheists for a while now. But the only local group is dedicated to humanism, and weren't so much into the socializing and enjoying a stimulating conversation type of thing. Plus they only meet once a month, and I need more face-time than that.

Living in my local community, there's not much to choose from. So, finally, I just said, "What the heck, I'll start it myself." With the help of Atheist Nexus' features like easily starting… Continue

Hey Ayatollah, Leave Those Kids Alone!

To avoid feeling powerless about all the crap going on in the world, I sometimes turn a blind eye to the 'news' of dreadful events. I feel some shame in that, but I have enough problems dealing with my little life, and I do what I can to promote atheism, free-thinking, reason, science, critical thought, wonder, etc.

So, I don't know all the details about what's going on in Iran, except I know it's bad bad shit and I wish it would stop, but I don't know what I can do to help.

Ho… Continue

Atheist Comedian/Songwriter Tim Minchin Could Have Christmas Hit

Wouldn't it be cool to have a freethinker's song remembered as a popular Christmas song? Help spread the word. There's a chance Tim Minchin's song White Wine in the Sun could go to the UK Top 40, which would make it the first openly atheist Christmas song to do so. (It's already #67 on the UK Top 100!)

If we try… Continue

What is wonderism?

New post summarizing and describing What is wonderism?:

"I've gotten at least a few comments from people along the lines of, "I'm still not sure what to make of wonderism." In my attempts to explain it, I find myself writing longer and longer articles, with more and more detail. Sometimes it's harder to express an idea in just a few words, than in many words! Pascal's famous quote comes to mind: "I am sorry… Continue
