The Myth of Good and Evil: From Hitler to Mother Teresa

Posted on May 23, 2010 at 12:00am 7 Comments

(Reprinted from my blog HERE)

These days, the archetypes of good and evil in our society are Mother Teresa and Hitler, respectively. If you start with these two as the paradigms, it becomes pretty easy to figure out what "Good" and Evil" are really all about.

I admit that I have never met Adolf Hitler. Fortunately for this blog post, however, I have met Mother Teresa. It was in… Continue

Minarets and Mayhem

Posted on May 22, 2010 at 12:00am 1 Comment

Minarets are causing a lot of flack in countries like Switzerland and Germany these days, and rightly so. A referendum in Switzerland actually banned the construction of these Muslim spires, citing their “non-Swiss” architecture as reason. To get along, we have to make concessions.… Continue

A lot of religion’s power lies in the laity’s fear of what happens to us when we die. The “flaw” in atheism (they say) is that it can not explain the “afterlife”. Well, here ya go: an atheists explanation of death:

What I have learned is this: The brain works on an electric charge that is roughly equal to your average car battery. This electricity jumps from neuron to neuron, interacting with other bits of electricity to create a sense of self. In order to leap across the… Continue

How to Kill Faith and Win Arguments with Religious Zealots

Most Christians would roughly define faith as a ‘belief without evidence ‘ that comes as a gift from a just and loving God. Of course, they also believe in talking snakes, pregnant virgins, and people rising from the dead, so it gets a tad fuzzy trying to follow their logic.… Continue

Glad to meet you, William, and to know that your major contribution to the heathen viewpoint of religion has done so well. Welcome to this super site with its bright people like you who recognise the atheistic world view as right, and religion for the fraud that it is.
