About Me
I am interested in science, philosophy, religion and mythology - and somehow in the modern world of gullible believers and even more gullible money-grubbing clergymen, these four meet on political and justiciary terms, which makes this important for all of us not to ignore.

"Sapere aude!"

Who am I?

Please leave me a message if you want to add me.

Being an atheist tells as much about a person's personality as having a moustache does. Therefore, allow me to introduce me to the person behind the internet façade. I will tell you a bit about my interests and philosophies.

Education

I am a third year student of biomedical engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology. My interests in this field are in Biomechanics & Tissue Engineering (growing body parts ex-vivo!) and Biomedical Informatics & Modeling.

Other intellectual interests

I have a broader interest in science than my education allows to show, but you'll just have to take that for granted. I am also interested in philosophy and religion in general (that includes mythology). I find truth in philosophical concepts like Nihilism, Existentialism and Determinism. I am mainly interested in Norse/German mythology, but I also try to read into Greek, Egyptian and Aztec mythology.

Music

Music is an important part of my life. You will notice that I am a fan of metal, a genre that I offers a great variety of music. I am particularly fan of metal that incorporates traditional folk instruments or melodies and historical pagan oriented lyrics. Examples of bands that I like a lot are Ensiferum, Equilibrium and Moonsorrow. You can visit my last.fm profile over here.

Christianity: Reinventing Dogma

In this article a few topics converge to the core of what I would call my quarrel with Christianity, its teachings and more importantly: its followers or rather lack thereof. You might think “a lack of following?” and following that remark present me with an estimate of the vast amount of people who identify themselves as Christians, being a big chunk of the global population pie. And that is exactly my point: these people identify themselves as Christians whereas I am speaking of strict followe… Continue

Deconstruction of Christian sexuality

Religious ideals about sexuality permeate our society to this very day. In the western society it is Christianity which has set our current norms. It may be apparent that things are different on the eastern and African front, where the Islamic religion prevails, but I’ll remain culturally local and only try to shake our own foundations. Normality as we know it is culturally founded on our Christian history, which is a clear invitation to critical inspection. To what extent has Christian doctrine… Continue

Reading the Bible: Part 2 - Magic and God’s sick hunger for death

In the previous installment of this series I ended at the destruction of Sodom. The rest of Genesis contains some stories about the descendants of Abraham down to Jacob, father of twelve sons who would later become the fathers of the twelve Israeli tribes living in Egypt that would later find themselves enslaved: Prepair for the book of Exodus.

Reading the Bible: Part I - Creation, foreskins and cruelty

So there it is: The first part to my reading quest. In this article I will comment on Genesis chapters 1-19. All chapters from 11-50 deal with the familiy history of Adam’s direct descendants. Some of these are important characters in biblical mythology, such as Noach and Abraham. Others seem not so much important, and it’s certainly possible that I will jump to the book of Exo… Continue

Hi Waldheri, :) - It's a Labrys - basically a double headed axe intended for harvesting as well as a weapon, and supposedly a favourite weapon of the Amazons - in classical history it had a long association with the worship of female deities.

It has come to be a symbol for both lesbianism and feminism lol - it is the direct precursor of the battle-axe. For me it is siting between the Transsexual symbol & the Lesbian symbol and denotes both feminism and lesbianism *grin*

Here are some links :)

scroll down the page - the bit on the labrys is towrad the bottom.

Thanks for the question - it's the first time anyone has asked *grin*

Wyoming is better than the southeast, from what I've seen. It's still a solid red state, though. My big point was that there are no cities. The closest it has are Cheyenne and Casper, each of which are around 50,000 people. The entire state barely…
