Hi Vash,
My wife and I were married ten years ago in a decidedly non-religious, though not explicitly atheist, ceremony officiated by Roger Moore, who works out of Portland. While he is a non-denominational minister, he was focused on…
Hi Dani,
My Fiancée (Jess) and I are very interested in being a part of changing these laws. We'd love to talk more specifically about what we are looking for in a ceremony and an officiant. We will be calling you soon to maybe set up a…
Well, I suppose that's true, an atheist can solemnize a marriage if they're also a civil servant! But you can't sign a marriage license as an atheist "officiant" otherwise. It is shocking, isn't it? I…
A civil servant could, in theory, be an atheist, no?
I'm not a huge proponent of marriage so this concept has never occurred to me, so I'm pretty dumbfounded.
I don't really have anything worthwhile to say, I guess I'm…
Hi Vash,
I am currently on the local advisory board of Center for Inquiry Portland, and was also among many who attended a training in Portland just last month to become the first "Secular Celebrants" here in the Northwest…
My fiancée and I are getting married in North Portland this coming Halloween (10/29/11). We've booked the venue, set up the reception, got the band, the food everything we need, except someone to do the actual ceremony for us.We aren't having the wedding in a church, and we are seeking someone who can help us create a wedding ceremony that focuses on the Love, Commitment & Choice aspects of a wedding while leaving out any and all religious references. We are both atheists, but we are from…See More

When I was a kid my dad was an associate pastor at a Pentecostal church in central California and later at an Assembly of God church in Kansas. I went to church all day every Sunday and every Wednesday night and I was water baptized at age 8. Divine…
A couple of my favorites from Spider Jerusalem of Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis are:
"You want to know about voting. I’m here to tell you about voting. Imagine you’re locked in a huge underground nightclub filled with sinners,…
This group will do more than just pick apart biblical errors and contradictions. Let's closely examine the Bible and Qur'an. Nothing is sacred; every prophecy, proverb, and parable deserves examination and critique.
Great Episode guys. I was reminded of this article I read in TIME magazine from March 29, 2010 which says:
"the Hutaree are a symptom of the continuing militia phenomenon, one that seems to have gained impetus since the election of Barack…
Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis and published by DC Vertigo is a good one with heavily atheistic overtones where religion is concerned. The 60 issue run is available as a series of graphic novels:…
Hi, I'm Vash. I'm a 36 year old Skeptic, critical thinker, rationalist and agnostic atheist. I was raised in a home that switched a few times between Pentecostal and Assembly of God churches.
After years searching and studying all the religious doctrines and philosophical systems I could get my eyes on and my brain around (including a shameful stint spent working closely with so called 'psychics' and astrologers and making money myself as a "spiritual consultant") I came to the inescapable conclusion that all those superstitions are man made and that the real, physical world really is all there is.
Since then I have found a deep interest in psychology, science and a real affinity for debunking. Consequently, I have also become a huge fan of James Randi, Penn & Teller and Derren Brown.
I'm also a percussionist, cook, tattoo enthusiast, comic book fan, movie buff and avid reader.
