Alone

Sometimes, a lot of times, I feel quite alone here.Aside from my husband, I don't know any other atheists in the real world. Living here in Ohio, southern Ohio, I'm surrounded by religion and conservative mindsets... I came out recently as atheist to friends and lost several. They were too close-minded to accept me for what I am. These are people I've known for almost 20 years! It's sad and it's disturbing.I am 99.99999% certain there is no God. Why are so many others so unwilling to see what I…See More

Greetings, Tracie! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus since Nov 2010. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds,Hang With Friends. :D You might feel more at home.

Hello to writer Tracie Scheiding, and welcome to this friendly meeting place where freethinking non-theists recognise that religion is largely a huge deception aimed at controlling vulnerable superstitious people, including defenceless children; and
how tragic and inexcusable it is that women and minorities have been oppressed these last two thousand years and even longer.
