About Me
Hello, my name is Tiska. I'm a "deconvert", meaning I grew up as a christian and I am now an atheist. Basically I didn't go through any "faith crisis", I just grew up. One day the answer "Do I really believe all of this?" could no longer be honestly answered with "Yes". My parents were no believers but thought since the place we lived in was catholic it would be good for my integration to be catholic as well. I have actually taken the step to finally leave the catholic church a good while ago and I do not regret it (I do regret paying 20 Euros. Maybe I should've tried harder to be excommunicated).
I hold naturalistic views and read a lot to know more about naturalistic arguments and viewpoints.

I appreciate:
Honesty. Fairness. Good manners. Sarcasm. The ability to accept facts.

I have several hobbies, actually too many to name them all. Feel free to ask me about them.
To name a hand-full:
Reading, Going to Theater/Opera/Concert, pick strawberries, mulled wine in winter, Teatime etc.

I read:
George Orwell, H.G. Wells, James Joyce, Charles Dickinson, Charles Baudelaire, Gustave Flaubert, Franz Kafka, Gottfried Benn, Aldous Huxley, H.P. Lovecraft, Robert W. Chambers, Oscar Wilde, Bertrand Russell, Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Friedrich Nietzsche, Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Rosa Luxemburg, J.R.R. Tolkien, Michel Onfray, Noam Chomsky and others

I admire: Alan Lee, John Howe, Claude Monet, Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Volker Pispers, Kurt Tucholsky, Auguste Rodin, Lyonel Feininger, Friedrich Nietzsche and many other magnificent people

I want badly: a leather torso armor.

My favourite music:
Carlos Puebla, Loreena McKennitt, Jethro Tull, Frank Sinatra, Stan Getz, Ray Charles, Buena Vista Social Club, Edith Piaf, Fréhèl, Georges Brassens, Tschaikowski, Shostakovic, Strawinsky, J.S. Bach, Movie Soundtracks

"As I have said before, the ever more sophisticated weapons piling up in the arsenals of the wealthiest and the mightiest can kill the illiterate, the ill, the poor and the hungry, but they cannot kill ignorance, illness, poverty or hunger."

Hi Tiska! I'm Kris - I host the Aussie/Kiwi group here on Nexus. I'm also the media and communications consultant for the forthcoming "Rise of Atheism" Global Atheist Convention to be held in Melbourne in March 2010. The Convention is being organized jointly by Atheist Alliance International and the Atheist Foundation of Australia.

I wonder if you could let your members know that tickets for the convention are now available online at the Convention website. We are expecting nearly 3,000 delegates, so this convention is going to be huge.

Confirmed speakers include: Richard Dawkins, AC Grayling, PZ Myers, Dan Barker, Peter Singer, Taslima Nasrin and many more.

Anything you can do to help us get the word out would be greatly appreciated.

Kommen Sie also aus Bayern?
