I am Thor, a gentle thunder god. Hehe, just kidding.
I am a student at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, studying for a degree in Computer Science.
I was raised in a non-religious household. Religion was almost never brought up by my parents. I do remember asking about religion and getting the response "not my crutch."
Early childhood had too much TV. Power Rangers, Batman, Pokemon. None of the crap cartoons on TV today. Not that I would know.
Teenage life was awkward. Meh. Apathetic. Not over yet. I'm due to turn 20 sometime this year.
Politically:
I think that "In God We Trust" is a big "FUCK YOU!!!" to people who may not have a trust in a god or a group of gods (if such beings exist). I think "Under God" is an exclusionary measure taken be religious idiots to assert authority over non-Christians. I think both statements detract American ideals of freedom. I believe that the "War on Drugs" is a supreme waste of money, not to mention a human rights disaster. I think that abstinence is bullshit and that people shouldn't be afraid to fuck if they want to. Please note that I am not saying "Fuck indiscriminately". Some people like to think that I'm saying "Fuck indiscriminately". I'm not. I think that all the opposition to gay marriage amounts to oppression by religion (namely: Christianity), and is thus UNCONSTITUTIONAL. I believe the Israeli government has its faults, does not deserve US support, and should actually be given pretty stiff regulations, given the amount of crap Palestinians have to put up with. Ever hear of the U.S.S. Liberty? I believe that TV news media in the US is a joke (don't watch stuff from outside the US that much), and that something, something, should be done about the US TV news. But not by the US government, by Odin's Beard, no. I believe that people have freedom of fucking speech, man. Ain't no shit about it. I believe that censoring certian words on TV and radio (why no abbreviation for radio?) is hypocritical at best and tyrannical at worst.
You cannot tell a human what what to think, for they will come to their own conclusions.
You cannot tell a human what to say, for they will speak as they are wont to do.
You cannot tell a human what is moral, for they will have their own reservations.
You cannot tell a human what to believe, for they will question 'Why should I believe this, teller?', and your reasons will be all but insufficient.
Hi
Welcome to Atheist Nexus with its 8000 good friends.
A useful group with its 125 discussions and numerous video films is “ORIGINS” (Origins: Universe, Life, Humans, Evolution, Religion....)
One discussion (over 70 posts) is "Proud to be Atheist".
There's much to feel good about
because atheists and humanists hold the intellectual high ground—far removed from the superstitious god believers who submit to a narrow-minded controlling clergy with their imaginary heaven and hell.
