Profile Information

About Me
Not sure what to say really, but here it goes. I do not watch TV and spend most of my non-working time learning. There are many topics that interest me such as, cosmology, genetics, physical anthropology, medicine, anti-creationism, applied mathmatics, evolution, quantum theory, astronomy, microbiology, aerospace engineering, biographies and business. I do on occassion read some fiction but it has always been limited to Ben Bova as I do not quite understand other types of fiction. My favorite authors are Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, Steven Gould, Brian Greene, Victor Stenger and others along this line. I am currently reading "Arguably" and have found that "12" has become one of my favorite publishers.

Many of those who know me say that I am very intelligent and if I believed in IQ that would be yes, but I do not. I consider myself to be quite stupid really (not ignorant) and am always looking for answers to questions, which inevitably leads to more questions that need answers.

Pet peeves - When people use their religion as the excuse for their hatred, bias, ignorance and failures. Be accountable folks! Your life is what YOU make it!

Favorite Quotes
"The important thing is to never stop questioning." - Albert Einstein

"Of course science doesn't know everything, otherwise it would stop!" - Dara O'Briain

"No matter how positively you think you know it, if you can't show it, then you don't know it and you shouldn't say that you do, nor would you if you really cared about the truth. Knowledge is demonstrable, measurable, but faith is often a matter of pretending to know what you know you really don't know and that no-one even can know and which you merely believe often for no good reason at all." - AronRa (which I just noticed is a member here....yay!!)

"Why?" - Terri Harshman and I hope many others

My philosophy on life - Love everyone until they give you a reason not too, then love them less. There is no room for hatred within me as it is a wasted emotion and non-beneficial.

As a side note to those of faith. Please! Please read your own material before debating me. It is a very sad sign when I know more about your faith than you do!

Indeed! People being wonderful and nice just because it's the right thing to do, not because some skydaddy tells them to.

Hope we can chat soon...

Yes, I love cats and animals in general.  You will have to post your cat photos -- I would love to see them.  Hope you are having fun here. : )

I really like that you said "there is no room for hatred" -- that is a really good philosophy on life.  I wish more people thought that way.

Hi Terri.

Welcome to this worldwide nexus of truth and peace---far from the god-worshipping superstitious masses.

"If freethinkers could reason with the believers, there would be no believers." True common sense and science inevitably lead to atheist wisdom.

We invite you to make good friends by joining the busy group "ORIGINS: Universe, Astronomy, Life, Earth, Humans, Religion, Gods, Atheism, Evolution, Darwin..." with 500 discussion topics and 3000 members.
