I have let a couple of friendships fade away because I really can't handle the born-again, evangelical thing. And I absolutely hate how people here in Northern IL (and I'm sure everywhere), just talk about 'god' like there is one for sure, and you believe it as well. UGH. I'm 45 and it didn't used to bother me, but now it bothers me A LOT! So my social life has gotten smaller. And I don't care! :) It's nice to come here and tell your stories because everyone usually agrees with what you're fed-up about! ~ Melinda

I am lucky to have many Atheists in my 'real' life, including 2 that I raised! My daughter 20, and my son 18. I converted my husband, lol.

My only first-cousin lives in Houston. She is VERY religious and VERY right-wing, and we don't have much in common! We keep in touch through e-mail, but I keep it light.
