Joseph P said… Ooh, looks cool and useful, perhaps as a movie for younger atheists to show their ignorant, religious family members.
Your statement about the perspective of atheism in the USA reminds me of an episode of Top Gear that I saw a few years ago. The guys were on a road trip from Florida to New Orleans, Louisiana. While passing through either Alabama or Mississippi, the hosts (who were each driving their own car) were given a challenge by the show producers to paint messages on the sides of the others' cars, in an attempt to get the other hosts assaulted.
There were messages such as NASCAR sucks, Hillary Clinton for President (before she actually ran for president), and Man Love is Okay. They actually got assaulted and there was only sketchy film coverage, as the film crew ran for their lives, when they got jumped and were chased after by a bunch of yahoos in pickup trucks.
I think most Europeans seriously don't grasp the fact that ... all of the horrifying stereotypes you see on American TV programs and movies, mocking southerners ...
The reason those stereotypes exist is that it's the honest truth about a huge portion of the population, in several of the southeastern states. It's not hyperbole. Most Europeans haven't come face-to-face with that level of ignorance, stupidity, and hatred in such overwhelming numbers, and they can't make themselves truly believe it. The Top Gear guys now clearly believe, though.
