Thanks for the request. I have boy/girl twins who will be two on October 30th. Maybe you can give me some twin advice on two year olds. LOL!

Without a doubt, being in a metro area insulates me from the majority of the batshit crazies, but there are definitely a huge number of massive churches and an overall lack of welcome if you don't submit yourself to their belief system, be they religious or political. More self involved, egotistical, & ignorant people than I have met anywhere else I've lived.
I just caught the thread. I would love to get together for a meetup & casual hangout. Unfortunately, work and home life are extremely hectic. My wife and I work opposite schedules so we can avoid paying for childcare for our twins (and keeping…
Check out Bad Religion's "Atheist Peace" or "Dearly Beloved" or any number of their other songs for an "atheist theme". The acoustics versions are particularly good if you happened to not be a fan of punk.
I just listened to an interview on the SGU with Simon Singh. He described having a homeopath tell him that he could give him a prophylactic treatment for malaria! The placebo effect wouldn't get you very far in the face of a bulk load malarial…
A group for left leaning libertarians. We stand for minimalist government, and social safety nets like socialized education, healthcare, and welfare. Contradiction? We think not.
Has anyone else seen this? I was reading a Time magazine from June 2009 at the doctors office today and saw a article about this. According to the article, if you pay $40.00 (30 euros from the website) you will get your message (up to 80 characters) painted on the barrier wall around Palestine by a Palestinian graffiti artist. Here's the link: http://www.sendamessage.nl/
A place for atheists to discuss morality issues. What shapes your morality? What new perspectives have you found since abandoning faith (if you ever had any)? Is there any merit to religious moral authority?
I think the exception was made only because the army invested a significant sum on his education. I strongly doubt that any Sikh off the street that enlists would be given the same exemption. And I don't see the military changing the standards…

Don't think the army would have a problem with someone carrying a knife. Even a ceremonial one.
And even the turban and hair, in the guy's role as doctor I don't see a problem. But they'd damn well better allow any army doctor…
Exhausted father of two year old girls. I'm new to the atheist community. Although I've thought of myself as an atheist since age thirteen, I have only recently started to explore the literature on the subject. My library and back-log of reading material is getting out of hand. I have an B.S. in Biology and work in the clinical laboratory science field.
