"I feel the same way...I'm always amazed that people I like, respect, etc. rely on am imaginary man to help them make things better and when things don't get better it was "God's plan.""

ORIGINS: UNIVERSE, LIFE, HUMANKIND, AND DARWIN

We debate origins of the Universe, life, Earth, humans, religion, atheism, using common sense, evolution, cosmology, geology, archaeology, and other sciences, to repel biblical creationism and other religious beliefs.

"I love country music but much of it mentions God. The winners at the award shows are always thanking God which always makes me wonder why God abandoned the losers that night. My favorite artist, Tim McGraw, has a Jesus fish tattooed on his arm. I…"

Steve V. replied to Sinead Murphy's discussion Do YOU think you are superior to the religious?
"I would never call theists stupid. For me it's more like brainwashing. It seems to me that religion and fellowship go so hand in hand that the warm fuzzies that people get from fellowship is the reason many are theists. I remember going to a…"

Hi Steve, and welcome to this friendly meeting place with freethinkers like you who recognise that religion is a fraud aimed at controlling vulnerable superstitious people, including especially defenceless children; and
how tragic and inexcusable it is that women and minorities have been oppressed these last two thousand years and even longer.

Terry Meaden
founder of the busy group "ORIGINS: Universe, Life, Earth, Humans, Religion, Evolution, Darwin..." with its 280 discussion topics.
We invite you to join us and 1640 others.

I think the idea of reuniting with your deceased loved ones is the most attractive aspect of religion so can't fault your partner there. I'd like to believe that too.
We've no fish on our cars or Lord's supper stuff but plenty of prayer and guilt. My partner is not a believer in organized religion but too superstitious to claim atheism.
