I am on YouTube Daily and subscribe to all the major "atheist" players. VenomFX and Geerup are topnotch loons. I hope that this time they prosecute him. I know that coughlan666 is still trying to get the info he needs from YouTube in order…

Scriptural Criticism

Thumbnail
This group will do more than just pick apart biblical errors and contradictions. Let's closely examine the Bible and Qur'an. Nothing is sacred; every prophecy, proverb, and parable deserves examination and critique.

About Me
Hello! I'm a mother of three beautiful kids. My husband and I became atheists after reading several books like "Misquoting Jesus", "Who Wrote the Bible" "Godless", "The God Delusion", "The End of Faith", etc. We were never religious people. We hadn't been to church in 20 years. We just assumed that god and Jesus were real because that is what we were raised to believe. About 4 months ago, I decided to do some research on the bible after watching an episode of Bill Maher where he called the bible "a book of Jewish fairytales." Wow, was I shocked at what I discovered. Needless to say, it's changed our lives.
I have read all of Dawkins, Harris, and Hitchens' books, a long with other books as well. I am particularly interested in the Old Testament, Astrotheology, and Egyptology. I don't think Acharya S. gets enough respect for the research she has done in this area. The parallels between astrology and Judaism/Christianity are too many to just simply ignore.

In conclusion, I find religion to be preposterous and extremely dangerous. You can say I'm an anti-theist as I am against all religions. I post a lot on other boards (Sam Harris, Dawkins, and Huffington Post). I also am a member of The Freedom From Religion Foundation and The Secular Coalition of America. Both of these organizations do extremely important work on behalf of the secular citizens of the U.S. They are doing battle in the legal system and through lobbying the government to protect and enforce the Separation of Church and State. Every bit helps so if you are not a member, please become one. Thanks!

Hello Stephanie,
I liked what you said in your profile. I think that most people 'assume' the bible and jesus stories to be true and correct because that's what they're told as a youngin'. With a little research and self education, (and an open mind) it's easy to see how preposterous the whole thing really is. We just need to get a lot more people to "see the light".

No problem, I love non-fiction books of the science sort. The sad part of that is that I have to drive over 400km to the nearest good book store (209km each way)!

Hi, and welcome to our little corner of sanity.
As you obviously like to read, may I suggest a few books? Firstly, Lee M. Silver's "Challenging Nature", which makes mention of studies on DRD4 Dopamine receptors and how they relate to both religiosity and schizophrenia. Barbara Walker's "Women's Encyclopedia of Myths and Secrets" and Robert Graves' "King Jesus" (if you can find it). I am lucky to have not had religion shoved down my throat as a child, and even now, my 87+ year old father calls creationists "Fucking idiots" (I learnt swear words from him as well).

Hi! Thanks for the kind note. And nope, I'm not a Methodist minister. :-) (Although that would make for a pretty interesting situation!)
