Wow, the "shut up whore or I'll kill you defense" for their actions. Classy as always, theists.

And the priests of course...but that was my point. The "shuffled" priests don't get defrocked until they are caught by secular authorities. For the Catholics, it isn't about doing what's right or even following the religion, it is about not getting…

And the difference between this and the Iranian cleric that helped bring us Boobquake would be...?

No, as far as I can tell the 2 million is right...they just lack precision in the article of reporting the age of the solar system. I guess 4.563 or whatever just doesn't look right to them.

Which is something we should hold the respective bishops accountable for.

They aren't removing their priestly duties if they are shuffling them from parish to parish.

Meh, the defrocking part is pure voodoo, and I couldn't care less whether or not the church decides to relieve someone of his voodoo vows or not. All I'm concerned with is whether or not Ratzinger (or anyone else) actively stopped or obstructed civi…

You know, you're right? I was working on what a mate who was disgusted with the Catholic church told me, and looking at it he didn't actually order the coverup...he just said they should consider whether defrocking a child-raping priest was for the…

Mind giving me evidence for that? Please don't think I've been living under a rock for the last few years or something, but whenever I see people (even supposed rationalists like Hitchens and Dawkins) trot these statements out where they have "CONC…

And of course our lad Ratzi, Emperor Pope-atine, who was running THE GODDAMN INQUISITION and wrote letters declaring that they should be better covered up when they rape kids.

I'm not sure I buy that we have faith our cars will start. We expect them to, but that's because of the evidence we've accumulated that our car starts when we turn it on. We hve evidence, whereas theists simply trust something without evidence. They…

Yep, it's nuts. Still though, they're not saying child rape is acceptable. Raping a child will get your ministry removed and you won't be able to do 'priestly' things. But your vows won't be removed. The main problem is that despite this official p…

I'm completely agree, it isn't really a double standard (although you'd think rape would be a violation of celibacy requirements...but a relationship is different from rape). I just like pointing out how completely immoral Catholic 'morality' is. F…

This actually makes perfect sense according to their theology. "Defrocking" is simply a woo woo term which refers to the priestly vows a priest takes, which include celibacy. So willingly declaring that you break your vow of celibacy by entering in…

Who would have thought?Pa. priest won't face charges over videotaped sexIn all seriousness though, leave it to the Catholics to only shuffle around priests as "ill" when they are raping children, but defrock them when they have consensual relations…

This article does the weird thing the one over at Atheist News does...it points out that the number is now 2 million years older, but the age it gives (4.56 billion) wouldn't even show that change, it would be a rounding error. Obviously the new mea…

Sick, injured, tired...

It has been a rough month for me. I've twisted my knee at work over two weeks ago, and I'm just now getting full mobility back. Luckily work is paying for it due to the fact I slipped on an unmarked wet floor. I also have a harsh respiratory infection kicking my butt. Talking is hard, and laughing hurts. I miss laughing.

All in all, I look forward to being healthy again and getting back to reading/posting Atheist News. I miss those folks!

Three years...so long and so short all at the same time...

I've been with my wife for three years this weekend. I thought I should just take a moment to reflect on how lucky that makes me. Okay, enough mushy emotional stuff, on to more posting of news and science and whatnot!

She joined the ranks of the Youtube posters...who knows maybe I'll eventually manage to drag her over here.

It is kind of weird being a white guy that cares about the state of hair fashion and culture in the United States brown people population. All I have to say is let your hair be what it is! Curly is definitely beautiful. Continue

Thank you for the welcome and for the compliment! I am keeping it dyed pink in support of my Aunt Sylvia who is currently fighting breast cancer. She just underwent a double mastectomy Friday and is still in recovery, but I know she will tough it out! However, I don't have a problem dyeing my hair any colour of the rainbow! :)

I have nothing better to do either trust me. Actually, I have things I should be doing but this site is much more interesting. I'm surprised this site hasn't triggered some sort of religious web-nanny filter at work.

It is true that many people take the path of religion to lead them out of destructive life styles. It is also true that people can do the same thing without a reliance on faith (you just don't hear about it as much). You sound like a very nice you…

I've seen posts about the 50 commandments of jeebus put out by xtians that cite chapter and verse and you really don't need a commentary to go along with them. Boy it sure does kill the whole GOP/Tea Party platform.

From the article Tommy cited. "However, religious commentators have criticized Hawking's theorizing, saying he can never hope to explain what is essentially unexplainable." Well doesn't that kind of invalidate their own "god" theory then? ;p
