Profile Information

About Me: I'm a 15 year resident of San Francisco, but have spent most of my life in the Southwest (mainly New Mexico, Arizona and even a few years in Texas). I'm a happily partnered gay guy, a proud Army veteran, and work as a credit counselor. Politically, I'm a lifelong liberal Democrat, though I am libertarian-ish on pretty much any "lifestyle" issues you can name. Love books (both fiction and non-fiction), music and movies. Big sports fan, particularly MLB (go Giants!), NFL and college football. I really enjoy cooking and love to try new recipes I come across. I was a fairly early Internet adopter (from my grad school days on), and am a loyal Mac user.

I'm still pretty new to the world of atheism, and spent a few years in my early 20s as a born-again Christian since I couldn't quite cope with my being gay. Gradually drifted out of churchgoing and belief after I came out, though. I have generally been more inclined to label myself as "agnostic" over the past few years, but my views are continuing to shift as I keep reading more atheist/freethought books, blogs and other materials.

Anyway, good to be here and I look forward to some interesting discussions and "meeting" more of you over time.
