About Me: I'm 23 years old and was born and raised in Orange County. I spent the last 4 years in Eugene, Oregon for most of the year to attend the University of Oregon. I studied Sociology and Psychology. I was one of the co-founders of the UO's Alliance of Happy Atheists. I was the Education Committee Chair for AHA! for the 2009-2010 school year. In my free time I like to go ballroom, blues or swing dancing. I am now a graduate trying to adjust to the real world. Currently, I am back in Orange County and interning at an entertainment PR firm in West Hollywood.

I was a fairly conservative Christian for about 6 years but then slowly deconverted more and more as I read more about religion, philosophy, science and history.

Please Read: Sleazy anti-Atheist article in the Oregon Daily Emerald

A rather nasty rant from Portland State University's Daily Vanguard was ran in today's UofOregon Daily Emerald. Most of the time, The Daily Emerald is pretty good at remaining unbiased or at least un-inflammatory. I've never read anything this hateful in my college paper. Please take the time to read it and I would appreciate it if this gets spread around the Atheist blogosphere. solar eclipse superstition

Apparently there will be a solar eclipse this week. If someone knows the exact date, please tell me because I want to watch! I have seen lunar and solar eclipses before, and while they were definitely cool, I never noticed any fear or worry surrounding them. Apparently, the eclipse that will occur this week is supposed to be unique according to astrologers. I'm a member of Students for Choice at the University of Oregon. About a month ago we (S4C) held a protest outside of a Crisis Pregnancy Center that just happens to be right across the street from the Planned Parenthood. Crisis Pregnancy Centers lie to women to scare them out of getting an abortion if they need one. Conservative and liberal fear of science

I am not by any means good at science, in fact I avoid taking science classes as much as possible knowing I'll be confused on the first day. But I try to stay as informed as any lay person can. For most of my life I lived in Orange County where a good portion of the population believes in Creationism or Intelligent Design and deny Global Warming.
